I agree, I don't really like the S bend. More than anything I just like the fit and finish look of the shield. It really sets the piece off. Some of the other shields I've seen (and currently have) look clunky, simple and cheap.
Not that it really matters because I'm generally the only one that sees under my hood since it's a daily driver, and not a show car.

While at my local Ford dealer earlier this week I saw a parts breakdown for the intake on the upcoming Bullitt. It looked like the intake in the SEMA photos.
But I was told the parts diagrams were preliminary and subject to change.
Looking at the parts diagram the Bullitt intake looked like it had some sort of resonator included. I do not see it in the SEMA photos and looking at the parts diagram we could not figure for sure if it was a resonator or where it attached.
I also like the heat shield but as soon as I saw the intake tube I wondered about the S bend.

I agree, I like the large shield. But if the S bend costs power, then who really cares if the air is cooler. I've done alot of dyno testing on the shape of intake pipes in naturally aspirated setups. Depending on the setup, the shape can make a very large difference. I've seen a 4" S bend cost 14 rwhp over a straight 4" pipe. This was on a 7,000 RPM 2V NA engine. I've done similar testing on 3v and 4v setups and have found similar results.

IMHO the airbox seems to appear, almost completely sealed in from the bottom. Leaving little room, for outside air to reach the filter..
Well, there is more to it. The length of the pipe is also an important factor in the whole equation. We did alot of the same testing I mentioned above and length and a big effect. Especially when going too short.
Who is this foghorn2 guy? Is he a troll or does he just have a problem with me?

A true ram air setup.
