DiabloSport Performance tunes require the use of Super Unleaded / Premium grade or 91 octane fuel only, like carried by Amoco/BP, Sunoco or Mobil.
SCT still allows the use of 87 octane after flashing. I wonder why Diablo doesn't.

Still says coming soon...they've taken WAY too long and lost a lot of business to SCT....more expensive system by 30.00 to boot....glad I went with SCT....

I am curious as to why they don't have the 87 octane tune as well. Some people think the LCD display is a nice feature, which it is, but I don't think that makes it really worth more than the SCT.

SCT worked for me

I don't think an additional $30 to have a data logging feature is too much to ask. It would be nice to know how any added mods or tune changes affect the air/fuel ratio and such.

This is a better tuner if I am reading into it correctly. It allows the user to tune the cars themselves, which I don't believe is available on the SCT tuner. Correct me if I am wrong here.

All of the options they listed the user can change themselves, shift points, firmness, idle speed, gear sizes, tire/wheel combos, etc, via the unit. Also allows you to read and reset fault codes.

I'm going to wait till the diablo is out and go that route, partly for the added features, and mostly because that's what HP Motorsports uses here in town.

I was going to start a new thread to ask this question, but since I saw this thread called "New Flash", I thought I'd post here. Can someone who has gotten the SCT XCalibrator already, or anyone who has flashed a car before, explain how flashing works exactly? You take the supplied box with the cable (which I believe you buy seperately) and can you do everything yourself? Like, the little box asks you questions and you plug in the answers? Or, do you actually need to buy custom tunes to have programmed into the box? And how does it retain your stock setup? When you first plug it in, does it then know your stock setup or does it need to come programmed for a stock Mustang GT? Basically, I want to reflash the computer but don't have access to a dyno shop anywhere in a 100 mile radius. I am wanting to just order the SCT and be able to do everything on my own. Is this possible? We need to have a Computer Flash 101 class for anyone who has never flashed their car's computer and doesn't exactly know what is involved. Thanks to any/all who can give me/us information on the subject.

Thanks a lot adrenalin... helped out a bunch. I actually downloaded the software last night from a site, and looks pretty cool. Of course, I can't do anything at all until I have the XCalibrator plugged into my computer. I will be ordering it this week. Where is the best place to order it? The cheapest I've seen is $375 with the cable.

Ian, what software did you download? The xtreme software from SCT does didly squat unless you receive a file for it. I am still waiting for the quicktune 2005 software.

Yeah, I just downloaded the Xtreme software from SCT. So, the Quicktune 2005 is the software we are waiting for? I gotcha. Then you will be able to tune it yourself... sounds good. I e-mailed a dyno shop (who is also an SCT dealer) that's about 75 miles away from me... depending on his quote for the SCT XCalibrator, cable, tune and dyno, I'll be ordering the XCalibrator from Modular Depot today.

I asked my tuner yesterday about the quick tune. He commented that "it works great, as long as you haven't done any mods to the engine". I had already been there almost all day and it was 5 p.m. about, didn't get into details with him. Just a heads up because of his comment!
