Need Recommendation on Brake Pads

Ok the title pretty much sums it up but i will give some more info. I have purchased a set of Rotor Pros Slotted and Drilled Rotors(Skip the spew about them being non beneficial) I was originally going to purchase the EBC rotors with the Redstuff pads but the Rotor Pros Rotors are about half the cost. I got a set of 4 for the cost of just the fronts in the EBC Brand. So I figure I will still get the EBC Redstuff pads but after speaking with the Rotor Pro owner he suggested staying away from them due to them being ceramic and saying they are hard on the rotors. So i figure no big deal i will just go with the EBC Greenstuff, well they do not make them for our cars it's either the Redstuff or the Yellowstuff and the Yellows are basically for full out racing which i do not need. I also will NOT buy HAWK pads as I currently have them on my 97 F-150 and they suck. Noisy as hell and leave lots of dust. So i started thinking as good of a price as I got on the RotorPro Rotors maybe i just go with the Redstuff pads anyway since out car is a fair weather car only and if and when the rotors wear out I simply buy a new set since they are not to expensive.

So any thoughts??

Richard

Question Which Hawk Pads did you have on your F150?

I've only heard good things about Hawk Brake Pads

HPS (High Performance Street) – Performance Street Compound
When it comes to performance braking, there is no competition. This unique Ferro-Carbon compound combines the safety and quality of Aerospace design partnered with the braking technology of motorsports. Much improved braking over OE and standard replacement brake pads. Recommended for import & domestic automobiles.
Performance Ceramic – Luxury and Touring Compound
Specially formulated ceramic composite developed to meet the ultra-low dust, low noise performance of OE ceramic brake pads. Performance Ceramic pads also feature a fade resistant, linear friction profile that produces improved braking over OE with smooth engagement characteristics. Performance Ceramic – quiet, clean & fast-stopping. Recommended for import & domestic automobiles, luxury SUV’s, sport trucks & vans.
HP Plus – Autocross & Track Compound
The HP Plus Ferro-Carbon material can take the heat at the track and get you home safely without having to change your brake pads. This compound was designed for autocross, Solo II, and Track Day applications.
Warning! Due to the dramatic friction levels produced by this product to achieve race level braking; rotor wear, noise, dust and pad life may be affected.

Richard... try this link for EBC Greenstuff pads for 2005-2007 Mustang GT's

http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/stores/...bb876e2d0d5e65

I have only used Hawk HPS pad in the past... never had any problems with noise, but they do generate brake dust. But, any good HP brake pad is going to have dust..

If you are more concerned about noise and brake dust instead of stopping power, then the ceramic pad will do well for you.. Otherwise, the only thing better than a metallic compound brake pad is a carbon fiber brake set up, which most of us common folk can't afford.

My suggestion would be to go with Porterfield R4-S pads. They are expensive, but IMO the best pad in the street/performance segment. You can look at the pad information on http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/pads.html

Big thumbs up on this pad

OEM pads are the best for OEM brakes. No dust and bites hard.

I'm using EBC Redstuff pads and EBC slotted & dimpled rotors. I don't know if it's the rotors or pads but they're noisy as hell. They make a static sound while driving and a high pitched static sound while braking. The positives are they look great, produce next to no dust and bite like a ***** in heat. I wouldn't buy them again though.

Here is a link to the HAWK pads on am running on the truck.

I have been hearing good things about those Aekebono pads but those are ceramic also and RotorPros suggested NOT using Ceramic. Dust i can deal with but squealing I cannot.

I just took off a set of Hawk HPS pads and had absolutely no noise and little dusting from them. Unfortunately, due to fade on track, I had to replace them with HPS+'s.....and yes, they are NOISY!

HP+ pads should be used on the track. Their MOT isn't high enough, which can ultimately lead to extreme fade.

I have been considering Akebono pads. Are you using the ceramic Pro Act pads? Do you like them better than the OE pads?
