Finally cleaned mine this weekend. It has 43K miles on it, and it needed the cleaning. Also put in a new air filter, and decided to do the home-made oil separator at the same time. I don't drive the car that much (I work at home) so it'll probably be a while before I see much oil/blowby accumulate, but I'll be checking.

Gave me a good excuse to finally clean up the engine compartment again, boy was it dirty!

Quick question...did you clean the TB while still mounted on or did you take it out? I have seen both, not sure which one I go for...

Cleaning the TB generally causes more problems. Running a CAI can cause the TB to gunk up faster because the CAI media doesn't filter as well as paper. Leaky connections for the PCV can also cause stallouts. The same goes for allowing unmetered air into the engine.

I took mine off just seemed like it was much eaiser to see/clean both sides of it well. It was very easy to take off and reinstall.

I took mine off and cleaned both sides, it is much easier to get it really clean. The cars runs 100% better - the throttle lag/delay was so bad before the clean that I didn't enjoy driving my car. Now the throttle response is back to normal. I cleaned mine at 38k miles - should have done it about 20 to 25k.

I just did this too last weekend. Used some TB cleaner I obtained at AutoZone for $3.99. It's not that hard of a job, though a little messy. Retuned the car immediately afterward, and I could totally tell the difference.

When you pull off the throttle body, can you re-use the gasket? Or should I have one on hand before I remove it? My car has 50k and never been cleaned. C/L since 5k. Cant wait to see the difference.

The gasket is accually a O ring. As long as it is not cut or nicked you can reuse them.

OK I finally got off my butt and cleaned the TB. I also wanted to cut notches in my shaker bracket so it would make it easier to take off on put back on. Anyone who has a shaker knows how much fun it is trying to line up the top 2 TB bolts. Now I can drop it on behind the 2 threaded bolts and tighten them down.

Let me say that the TB was very dirty. It had a ring of crud behind each butterfly plate. The car stumbled alittle when I tried to restart it but then it fired right up. I took it for a drive and the throttle lag was better and the seemed to run better. I even got alittle scratch in 5th. I changed the air filter while I was at it and I agree that this is something that should be done at least every 30,000 miles.
