Jack - It is total preference, my opinion is strictly based on everyday driving which would include fuel mileage and obviously occasionally freeway time. Are you going from 3:31's or 3:55's? Either way man your going to be very happy, the 4:10's on a slightly modified stang will be a huge improvment but when you start dumping a bunch of money on performance and no your longer N/A I would definitely say no go on the 4:10's (no offense 05fastback).
Therefore I agreed with your original post and also agree that on a slightly modified Mustang that upgrading to 4:10 gears is a huge improvement, but when it comes to more serious mods such as Forced Induction, running a lower ratio gear such as 4:10's aren't necessary and considered as overkill for a daily driven, street cruiser and like yourself, my opinion is also based from everyday driving which does significantly effect my fuel mileage, especially on the highway..

You are right about fuel mileage. I think I average 11.3 according to the trip computer. RPM's are not that bad though. Only a couple hundred (total guess) over what the 373's would run on the freeway. I run the rpm's up on my car anyways and rarely see below 2500 no matter where I'm at.
My RPM's at 60MPH is around 2100-2200 and at 70-80MPH they go up to 2500-3000 RPM.. So I don't know if the 4:10's are mostly responsible for the fuel mileage or if it's the Saleen VI blower or perhaps both

I mean don't me wrong, as I only take my car out on the highway 2-3 times per week during car cruise season.. The rest of the time, is driven locally.

Why would I be offended ? I think you misread part of my post, as I clearly stated that on a supercharged engine that I wouldn't recommend running 4:10 gears on a daily driver used strictly as a street cruiser..

Jack has already ordered the gears and their going to be bada**, just stay within a 30 mile radius of a gas station and you'll be set.

Its not that I misread, just wanted to make sure this didn't turn into a bash session Anyways, pretty sure we have drove this topic into the ground. In summary:

Hey M90,
I'm changing to the 4.10 gear set from 3.55. I don't think I'll go further with engine mods than Hot Rod cams and long tube headers. I love the idea of forced induction but the 5 to 6 grand prices I see just make me howl.

All I know is on my previous 05 GT which was pretty much bone stock with the exception of Doug's 93 octane Bamachip's tune with Steeda 90mm cold air intake, 5 speed manual with stock 3:55 gears, I averaged around 23-24 MPG highway on Sunoco 93 ultra..
Since upgrading to my current 06 GT, I'm lucky to see 14-15MPG highway and at the most, up to 17MPH highway if I stay below 65MPH

OK, the 4.10 gears are in finally. A long test drive around town and out in the countryside provided no surprises.
I don't get any sense of the car being geared too short in first gear as some have reported, in fact the car does not feel all that much different in easy driving. I notice the difference mainly as more immediate throttle response and when you really boot it wide open the thing pulls like a demon especially in third gear.
Highway cruising at 70-75 obviously uses more revs but not so much as to be annoying. I think this mod will prove perfect for the way I use the car. I'll get out to my favorite stretch of mountain road tomorrow for a more thorough test.
Thanks to all you guys who posted your opinions and experience with gear ratio swaps.
