V6 Mustang Sluggish After CAI Install

A few months ago, I purchased a Roush CAI for my 2016 V6 Mustang. Yes I purchased the one meant for the V6. It was supposed to be a no-tune intake. We all know that if you want to get the full power of an intake, it would require a tune, but I didn't want to void the warranty. I followed the instructions by Roush to install the intake, just to make sure I was doing it correctly. Even left the battery unplugged for atleast an hour. Everything lined up; fit perfectly. I noticed a change in performance alright. It was the exact opposite of what all the reviews I had read. The car just felt sluggish. It was slower on acceleration. I drove it for a couple hundred miles, just to see if the computer would compensate for the change. Did not change so I removed it and reinstalled the factory intake.

What could it possibly be that would make the car react this way? Please help. I would rather use the $300 I spent than to let it sit in the closet.

I spoke with someone at Roush Performance. They said that running a higher octane fuel would eliminate the issue. They recommended 91, but I switched to 89 octane and haven't had an issue.

I have had the roush CAI for my v6 mustang and it works great. It help me take off 0.8 sec off my 0-60. You might want to try what mrcsinch said because i have noticed that about my car. When i use 89 the car feels a little lazy but when i use 91 the car feels more alive and you can definitely hear and feel the intake going to work.
