I may be getting a Motive 3.90 Ring & Pinion set for my automatic 05 GT.

The reason I'm getting Motive is because Ford does not make a 3.90 gear.

I've heard from a mechanic that some non Ford gears don't fit well, make noise, wear out quickly, etc.

I certainly don't want that !!

Can anyone reccomend Motive gears?

I also need to get some gear oil - how many quarts do I need?

I heard I need synthetic 75W-140 gear oil.
How many quarts of gear oil do I need ??

Excellent, Motive it'll be.

Now how many quarts of gear oil do I need?

I guess I need the friction modifier as well.

Anything else I would need.

I'll be taking it to a shop.

LordBritish,
When I asked Steeda about installing Motive 3.90 gears they told me I would have to sign a release so they would not be responsible for excessive gear whine. If I would go with the Ford 3.73 or 4.10 gears, I would not have to sign a release. Doesn't prove anything but just something to consider.

Lordbritish~ let me know how these work out for you..I want to do the motive 3.90's as well but nobody seemed to have much info on them.I will definately order them if yours work out well.Oh, Richmond makes the Ford gears.

Is there a specific shim kit or something that is needed to install these?..Want to make sure I order all the correct parts for install, so if anybody knows specifics please chime in..Thanks for the part # on the street set Blazing saddles!
