As you probably all know most of the UD Pulley kits for the 05 Stang GT consist of a harmonic balancer pulley and a water pump pulley (for ex. the SHM Pulley Kit) and claim about an 8HP gain. I was planning on purchasing this kit but then I saw the Meziere Electric Water Pump(11.2 HP claim) on rpmoutlet.com and decided that too would be a good buy. Only problem is, for it to work properly it must use the water pump pulley provided with the unit itself; therefore making it impossible to use say, the SHM water pump pulley. I was wondering if it would be wise to install just the harmonic balancer pulley from the SHM kit and the Meziere electric water pump. Would there be a problem with the fact that not both SHM pulleys are on there? Is this totally incompatible and will just prove to damage the engine in the long run?

What I really want to know is if I am going to have to make the decision between one or the other! :bang: Any help would be greatly apreciated as I am ready to lay down the money and purchase this stuff once I am more enlightened. Thanks in advance!!!

I've heard of this electric water pump but I personally wouldn't do it.

The stock water pump is mechanical and is less likely to fail - it's just a simple stupid pump.

The electric water pump can fail and when it does, your engine will not be happy.

The idea of the electric water pump is to cool the car faster. If you're drag racing, being in line waiting to run, you can have the car off, pump on, and cool the car tremedously! Your car will run much better, cooler. Most of the cars today are more electronic than they ever have been. Throttle by wire for instance or fuel injection. ABS is totally computer controlled. Ignition and so on. I wouldn't hinge my decision based on electronic or mechanical. As to answer your question, I'm in the process of getting that answer. I already have UD pullies and am looking to get that pump. Make sure it's a 55 gpm pump. There are some out there that are less gpm. I'm not sure if Meziere makes one that pumps less than 55 gpm.

The only other problem would be the length of the belt. The Steeda and SHM kits (at least I think this is so with SHM) are designed to retain the stock belt. If you use the electric pump and can't replace the pulley (it's just an idler on the electric pump) then your belt size will be shorter with the smaller crank pulley you put on.

Electric water pumps dont use a pulley. It cant even be fabricated to work properly with an underdriven crank. If you are on a hunt for "free hp", an Electric water pump shouldnt even be a choice. Either stick to the pulley solution by itself or spend your money elsewhere.

If you want additional engine cooling get the electric water pump, dont just get it to free up horsepower....

Anyways...So I spoke with MMR today (which sells the Meziere pump). They said it'll work with UD pullies, but will require a bit shorter belt. They also have those belts in stock for the 05.
Cooler engine is a happy engine!

Did you get the 15" Bogarts or 17". Sorry, I'm sure I've asked you that before and we've probably had a conversation about it.

that is one sick setup Some serious coin for those wheels. I'm waiting to burn up my 17" M/T's before I switch over to the 15". How much did you pay and from where?

Sorry to hijack this thread.

I'd just like to add to this post that I am selling a brand new (still in box and never used) Meziere electric water pump (+ 11-15 RWHP) for $275 shipped. This pump will cost you $320 shipped if you buy it yourself. It doesn't come with the relay kit or the toggle switch. It comes with the wiring to hardwire it to the alternator so that it will function when you start the engine. If you need the realy and the switch, you can order these seperate from rpmoutlet and still save yourself about fifty bucks. Here's the link to my thread in the for sale section. Just PM me if interested.

As for the belt, you will need a shorter one, and you can get that from MMR, or from Autozone, etc.
