Maximum HP gain w/o SC
I've kinda looked around and taken note of people's different combos and gains. Anyway, that got me to wondering what the most HP you could get out of the GT with going the SC route AND keeping it a daily driver totally emmisions legal (understanding already that a CAI would be taken back to stock to go through inspection). With the right combo maybe the 350-60 range? I'm guessing that a CAI/tune, UDPs, x-pipe, mufflers of choice would all be the basics, beyond that I dunno. Any thoughts?

With the constraints you are talking you would be lucky to break 300 RWHP.

No..It seems like everyone dreams of staying N/A while still achieving supercharged results, when in reality it is not so. To make it possible you better be ready to dig deep into the pocket book to fork out cash for Full Exhaust, Cams, Ported Heads, Stroker Assy. etc.

I'm getting used to the idea that I'm lucky to be making over 300rwhp (albeit barely) n/a. With the big cost of good headers, and the inability to get close to 325 rwhp with all the mods I have in my sig, I have resigned the idea of staying N/A forever.
W/O F.I., spending the big money for heads and cams, just doesn't seem worth it. Heads and cams will run, what, $3,500 just for the parts? Probably another $1,000 to install of both? I could have saved the $1,400 on headers, add that up..$5,900. If your lucky you may see 350rwhp. A brand new Saleen s/c can be purchased for under $5,000 (centrifigals, and some single turbos for less), and get you over 400rwhp, with potential for much more.
Yep, IMHO, these little 281s mod motors need a few pounds of BOOST.

What kind of emmisions testing do they do in TN? I didn't think they had any. You wouldn't have to remove a CAI to get it tested anyway. I sat there talking with an inspector about my nitrous kit, long tubes, dark tint, etc etc and he passed me just fine in Houston, TX. That shop is under direct supervision from the state too.

In CA you do! I don't see a CARB sticker on my C&L aluminum intake, therefore that will have to be ditched before I take my 'Stang in for smog inspection. ALSO, I can't have L/T headers, X pipe, etc, etc...

Don't forget an electric water pump and one piece Aluminum drive shaft. Both reduce parasitic power loss meaning more power to the rear wheels. 350 might be out of range without headers and opening up the motor for cams and heads and such.
I'm still waiting for HorsePower TV to come back wih their dyno results from the stroker kit and other mods they did to an 07 Mustang GT. Their list of mods included 4.6L stroked to 5.0L, LT headers, UDPs, CAI, one-piece Aluminum drive shaft, SPEC twin disk clutch, larger throttle body and some other things I forgot about already (and an aftermarket shifter that will not affect any power gians). They still needed to do the R&D to tune the thing after all of these

At least you don't have to worry about it for 6 years (2011).

They do the sniffer in the exhaust deal. In the old days when I was in the county I didn't have to go through inspection. That was a beautiful thing.
I thought that without a tune that the CAIs would make it throw a code because of the difference in air ratio with the sensor?

Sniffers for emmisions aren't looking for rich/lean conditions. They're looking at the ammounts of NOx, CO, and CO2 that you're car is emmiting. A CAI/Tune won't bother any of that. Infact it may make your car cleaner because the tune is burning the fuel more completly. How's that for an ad campaign? Make your car faster, save the environment. C&L Intakes, we care.
