Manually shifting an Auto.

Saw a few threads where someone mentioned our trannies cant handle continually manually shifting it. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

I remember a few of these threads.... there's going to be some people who claim it somehow does damage, isn't designed for that, shoulda got a stick, etc etc.... Not one had any first hand experience with an S197 tranny being damaged in some way by manually shifting. The things electronic/computer controlled, it's no different letting the computer do it.

I've never driven an S197 auto, but I have an SN95, and there's a lot of lag between the time you shift the shifter to the time the trans responds to the input... Are the new ones better about that?

I dont notice lag when i stay on the gas when shifting. For those that might not know, shifting manually also has the adaptive learning unless u get it turned off like its normally done in drive w most tunes.
