Magnapacks caused check engine light
#1
Yesterday I had my pulleys and cat back Magnapacks installed. The guy did a great job. A half an hour or less my light came on. My SCT tune will be here by Tuesday. This should fix everything. My tuners know about all my mods, so I think I'll be fine.
P.S. She sounds really mean!

I haven't heard of anyone's car throwing an engine light from axle back exhaust. I have JBA and never had the problem. It would help if you were able to go to Autozone or Orielly's to have them diagnose the trouble code with an OBD-II scanner. Let us know what the code is and maybe we can help. Might not even be the mufflers at all.

Who is the tuner you are using? I have'nt been able to locate a SCT tuner in Las Vegas. This has made me lean towards C&L performance for thier Intake and Diablo Predeator combo. I know the most reffered tunner in LV is at Silverstate Motorsports out at the Speedway and he uses Diablo products. Any info would be much appreciated as choices are always good!

Sorry about that Johnny, your first post kinda made it sound like you found someone local. I haven't called JMS yet I will tomorrow. It kinda becomes a whirlwind after you have called a dozen or more tuners! The adventure continues.... B)

Don't bother filling up with anything other than 87 octane until you get your tune done.
The stock engine was tuned to run on 87. If you put anything higher in your only wasting money. When you have your tune done, you should be able to have them set it up for higher octane.

I have the magnaflow catback with magnapaks on my car and had them on for a month with no engine light coming on. This only happened after installing the MMR intake kit. I highly doubt the exhaust system has anything to do with it.
Perhaps it is the pulleys that are causing it.
As others have said, no point in running 91 octane without a tune for it. You may be losing HP at this time.

Well, Ford cleared the light and said it was miss fire. I was happy to hear this and I took off. A mile up the road it came back on and than cleared it self. I drove back and talked with my sevice guy. No light no problem. So I left again. Got to the freeway and there it was again. At this point I guess I will have to drop her off for the night at ford. Anyone know what a miss fire is caused from? I don't think my exhaust or under pulleys are behind this. Thanks for any ideas.
