I figured that most cops wont know the difference between aftermarket and stock cats, but being caught with no cats would be the problem.

Magnaflow High-flow cats vs stock cats

I am thinking of ordering these cats. http://www.lastcallracing.com/exhaus...onvertors.html
I will be putting these on my O/R Prochamber. Do these cats sound better than the stock cats, or would it better just to remove the leg from the prochamber and splice in the stock cats. From what I have read, prochambers spliced into the stock cats don't sound that much different than the stock H set-up. Don't get me wrong, maganpacks with an o/r prochamber does sound awesome, but being in So-Cal, being pulled over and having the cops smell the exhaust and giving me a fix-it ticket does cross my mind.

Check out this thread: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=474730 Most cops aren't going to know the difference between an aftermarket cat and the stock one unless the install is done poorly. Having said that, if you run across one who does know, they can make your life miserable. Technically no shop is supposed to remove your stock cats unless they are defective. However, I'm sure some do and it can be done at home as well. The question will be, will you ever be in a situation where somebody who knows the difference is crawling over your car with a microscope looking for a reason to provide you with full service or not. If this is unlikely, then you can probably do whatever you want.

i think just the fact that if they check and see that they are actually there no matter factory or not or whether they know if its factory or not, then i guess thats all that matter.

factory or aftermarket, it still gets the job done.
