If you're planning on upgrading to a 4" aluminum driveshaft, I don't recommend trimming anything off the bumpstops. Doing so will increase the chance of the driveshaft coming in contact with the tunnel and/or driveshaft safety loop.

Well after lowering the car I had maybe 1/4" clearance between the frame and the top of the rear bumpstop. So trimming them down was a must as every little bump i hit they where bottoming out on the bumpstops. I could not even get a finger in between the fraem and the bumpstop. I will be installing the Eibach Bumpstops that come with the Sportline kit at some point.

At a guess, I've been in over 50 S-197 with various suspension modifications, and just drove another SGT yesterday. 90% have steeda or eibach springs though.

The more hard core linear springs are all going to ride considerably rougher, no need to test them out. He's just dropping the car, not going hard core track duty so its moot for those anyway.

I've only ridden in 3 S197's, and that's including mine.

Okay wise guys, this is for you...

My 3 rides... mine, Leo's, and a black GT vert during my test drive at the Dealer.

Back to BillR's original question, "Also don't want to lower it more than approx 1", other than the Ultralites, I'm not aware of any other spring setup that drops an inch or less.

H&R Sport springs claim to lower the front 1" and the rear 3/4".

Well at a Ford dealer its a bit different A lot of my customers and friends bring their cars by for various reasons so I go out in a lot of them. Most want me to drive it to see what I think about it.

BMR has a 1" drop version of their springs. They are linear but are shaped similar to the factory ones so they should have a little initial give to be streetable. They were my 2nd choice after the ultralites. I may go with them later when I get a bit more serious with the suspension bits.
