Low end loss

I just got done with long tubes and an off road h pipe on my 2006 GT. Noticing the car feels like a turd off the line until it gets close to second gear. Makes a lot of noise but ain't really going anywhere especially fast. Other mods are c&l cai, udp, cmdp, and a bama tune for everything. The car is an auto with 3:31 gears. Could it be that I need 3:73s/4:10s or could the tune need adjusting. Really was expecting more from this upgrade so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thx

IIRC ? You need a re-tune for long tube headers, as they change your air/fuel ratio.. Check with you vendor and have them adjust/revise your tune for the long tubes and you should be just fine

thanks for your response, but I have a bama hand held and had them tune the car for the headers and mid pipe. So it's not just that

You need some back pressure to build torque.
Your exaust system might be too open causing the peak torque to move way up the rpm range!

Elk Grove, that's about 45 minutes from me. I'm in Antioch ca. So what's the point of headers and off road h pipe if it makes your exhaust too open. I thought it was a good upgrade. I'm planning on cams and gears in the next month, should that help

They are a good upgrade and with a proper tune it will make more power but it moves it up in the rpm range!
You will normally loose the low end torque.
If your in the nor.cal. Area you should get with AED for a custom dyno tune.
Might be the best money spent!

No, just seen cars with AED tunes run very well at the drag strip, and on the road race course!
I personally don't have one yet, I have a Ford Pro Cal tune, but as soon as I need a tune to support more performance parts, I will get a AED tune!
A supercharger is in my future! (hopefully next spring)

Why do people get upgrades and not understand what they will do to your car? Headers and the H pipe make upper end power. If you car looking for Torque then you are screwed. What are you trying to accomplish?

This. Had my car dyno tuned by AED. I went with high flow cats though. Close enough for volume and power, to full off-road, without the smell. Get rid of the Bama tune. Have AED dyno tune the car!

Then I recommend contacting Bama and let them know the issues your having as you obviously need a re-adjustment for your current tune for both the headers and mid-pipe.. Otherwise follow the suggestion from the others and consider having your car custom dyno tuned instead

Long tubes are usually recommended to go along with a cam swap.

thx. Ya I plan on cams soon. Gears too just can't decide between 73's or 4:10s

I'm not a master mechanic. Just a cable guy who enjoys getting under my car and doing upgrades myself. Sorry to upset you so much. I thought the gains from my upgrade would be seen in the upper rpm range, didn't expect it to demolish the lower end power. I'm planning on a N/A weekend driver that hauls *** at the track. Cams, gears and nitrous are the next upgrades to come.

I switched from a Gibson 3" catback exhaust to a 2.5" Ford Racing/Borla catback and I can feel more low end torque with the Ford Racing. I believe the Gibson made more horsepower at the upper rpms, but I wanted torque for daily driving...and the Ford RAcing is a LOT quieter...which makes the wife happy.

Bear in mind the OP upgraded to long tube headers Dave.. So apparently he's losing low end torque due to the long tubes.. Therefore either his tune needs revised from Bama or he should look into getting a custom dyno tune altogether
