Which is louder-Catted Lt's or offroad?
I ran offroad pipes for a few months and now I am thinking about installing longtubes. I would like to know which is louder, running offroad pipes with shorty headers or running longtubes with highflow cats? I just don't want the longtubes to be too loud...

I was running an offroad X pipe with the stock manifolds, then I installed my longtubes thinking that it would make it a lot louder. It actually toned it down significantly. I've never had any desire to try high flow cats with my longtubes, as I know for my car at least that the loudest it could get would have involved keeping the stock manifolds, and I don't believe the shorties would be too much different than them.
My money would bet on the shorties being much louder than the LTs even without the cats. So I'd say go for the LTs, but retain the offroad pipe. You may be surprised.

Losing the cats, regardless of header will be louder than running them.
LTs really didn't make anything louder for me, it just gave a deeper tone- and a more unique pissed off sound in the upper RPMs

Hey Adam.
I know you have been running the offroad Mac Prochamber and I think Borla stingers for a while. I have had the exact same setup about 1 1/2 years ago and it won't get any louder than that. Trust me. Shorties will sound like the stock manifolds. You won't be able to tell them apart. Longtubes will add a little definintion to your exhaust tone. Meaning you can hear each cylinder fire but it is not any louder than running the offroad Mac Prochamber. I don't know what you are looking for in the end but I have had just about everything you have had except the shorties. Hope this helps you decide!!

So Scott, your current setup ( LT's, no cats, h-pipe- and magnaflows) is not as loud as the stock headers, offroad prochamber to stingers setup?

That is correct Adam. When I ran the setup you speak of with the Borla's my ears would ring everytime I drove her. And my previous setup with the GTA's was very loud and raw sounding. The Magnaflows have added a bit of a calming influence now but still have a nice low tone to them without any drone of anykind. Remember the important thing with exhaust is how much can you project outside the car for others to hear...not inside to car for you to hear.

Almost been there and done that. I ran an offroad Mac Prochamber with the stock manifolds. It started getting raspy with that setup and when I went to the OBX longtubes it got very nasty sounding. I am of the opinion that a longtube is a longtube and you will not see that much difference in sound between brands. Listen how much just changing mufflers can do to change the sound or tone of these cars. Just did this over the weekend. I couldn't believe the difference. Listen to the vids.
