Long tube header options?
i have a set of kooks on my 99 lightning now for 6 years and havent touched them.fit, finish, ease of installation is second to none.they arnt cheap but you pay for what you get.a 3/8 flange is the only way to go also regardless of whos you buy.just my opinion.
I have heard that with some of the Long Tubes that you need to change the Motor Mounts? If this is true, which ones don't have to do this. Also with the some of the brands, they have bigger primary tubes and 3 inch H/X pipes. My car is going to stay N/A so I don't need anything bigger than what is needed. I'm just shooting for 350-375 N/A RWHP.

Where are the Hookers $530?

C'mon you can get Hookers for much cheaper than that ......... Nevermind I just realized that it's a header thread.
The Kooks and dynatechs are much shorter than the JBA and have the cat placement next to the transmission.
This a negative in my opinion.
I haven't seen the stainless works mid-pipe.
I have also heard from people who have the Kooks that the cats sit lower than the frame rails and are the first to rub when the car bottoms out.
I still prefer my JBAs and yes the Steeda or much lower priced Prothane engine mounts are recommended.

Mind you, my engine kicks pretty hard now and those Hooker long tubes have very little clearance at the frame rails under the front seats. I still have an issue with my exhaust alignment and under heavy load the collectors sometimes rattle right under my seat. There is a fix and it involves reworking the exhaust mount hangers but I have to put the car up on a rack to do that.
The next thing Im looking into are new motor mounts, perhaps the BMR K-Member for the heck of it.

I've been looking at the BMR K-Member with integral motor mounts pretty hard myself (KM010). I sent out an email to BMR asking if a control arm relocation kit could be used to raise the lower control arms 3/4" such as with the Steeda Control Arm Relocation Kit and the answer was no. I realize that most people wouldn't care since they use it for drag racing. I still may get it

Yeah, I noticed from the description on that K-Member thats its for use with stock control arms and the like. I am only going to assume that they will soon have one that works with the control arms they are developing.

How hard is it to install that BMR K-member?? I would be on a garage floor with the car on jackstands and impact tools. Wouldnt doing that at the same time make the header install easier?

I wouldn't want to be crawling around there with the engine held up only by a jackstand supported at the front edge of the oil pan for too long.
Yes I know it's still attached to the tranny but still not the best feeling in the world.
I have no problem crawling under the car while the whole car is on jackstands.
Bmr claims it's only a 2 hour job on a lift but I would say 3-4 since the A-arms, struts, steering rack bolts, K-Member must be removed replaced and vehicle realigned.

Heh and I was thinking just the front of the car on jackstands. Maybe I will not try to tackle this on my garage floor.

Yeah the problem is that the K-Member is what supports your engine.
If I do it at home I'll probably borrow a friends engine hoist to hold it from above for a little extra peace of mind.
