Steevr---

One more thought....yes, any electrical activity seems to set it off....30 minutes later, it goes off!

Hey Bill....it's hard to believe that it's coming up on a year. Can't wait til the nice weather gets here again to drive it again. It's been since November. We're having an ice storm now...I had to drive home in it a few hours ago.

I wish I knew Ninosport carried the light. I would have ordered it from them. I hope LMPerformance is understanding. I called a local Advance Auto Parts to order it and they also said the APC was going out of business.

I'm glad the battery won't go dead, but I know I won't put up with the light glowing either when driving at night or can you imagine when you parked the car somewhere at night?? Nothing like drawing people's attention to the parked car. No thanks.

I'm going to call LM on Monday, just to let them know what's going on. I'll let you know what they say. Let me know the same on your end. Thanks.

You think that a parked Redfire GT vert doesn't attract attention on its own?

Steevr-----You and I have '07's, as was the "dealer test vehicle"... mrkabc and mike rx and panamajk have '05's. I know the sequentials require a different set up for '05 and early '06 and I believe it was more than just a bulb change....had something to do with how the computers "read" things. Panama said he has all three lights going when braking, but that in and of itself would not have changed other settings.

I agree, the lights remaining on is a bit weird...although in daylight hardly discernable, and at night depends where your parked, total darkness, yes. Bright lights, no. The draw I was told is less than 2 "alarm armed" lights.

And...the LED packaging reads '05-'06 Mustang, which suggests it was not re-worked for later cars.

I'm thinking it just says that because it was made before the 07's came out. But, good observation that the one's with 05's don't seem to be having the issue, but the 07's do. That could very well be the cause, but I'm honestly not sure.

Yes if you order sequentials they are for 05-06, and different kit for 07's so they must be some difference in wiring, computer settings or something. Good eye, that could very well be the reason, I know you are talking about the 3rd light , but this may be related issue.

Two questions...

First, if APC going out of business, is there another source for this part?

Second, early in the posts some ppl were installing the stock lens on the new light assembly. How easy/difficult is this to perform?

Thanks!

It's really easy, Mach. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give it a three. There's six tabs holding it on. A little patience and it pops right off. Same with the APC. Good luck!

I still don't see how the faint glowing starts when the interior lights go on.

The swap between the OEM and APC lenses was not too bad. Just take your time and be careful not to break any of the tabs off. I was so careful with the lenses and then after I put the trunk light trim back on, I broke one of the little tabs that holds the emergency trunk release lever in place.....arrrrgghhh!!!

It is possible that Ford has switched the relays in the SJB to electronic vs mechanical and whenever there is some electrical activity in the SJB there is a little leakage till the module times out.

Thanks Bill,

I called LMPerformance this morning and left them a message. They called me back when I was away from my desk and told me to send them an e-mail with a detailed explanation of what's going on. I did, but I didn't hear any more from them today. I will follow up with them tomorrow. I'll let you know as soon as I find out anything.

No reply back from APC's technical support. No great surprise there if indeed they are out of business.

Steve

Bill, let us know if Ninosport comes up with anything.

If not, I could meet you somewhere and we could try my LED light on your car, and see if it is in fact a defective unit.

Let me know!

I'm with Blitz on this one...there's got to be a difference in the circuitry. You guys with '07's know when you hit the key fob to unlock the doors all the lighting goes on, inside and out, but the '05's don't do that, only the interior dome lighting comes on. I had an '07 rental on a business trip and noticed some of the subtle changes Ford made like that. If you can get LMPerformance to take the APC back, there's another company called IPCW, In.Pro Car Wear, that makes the 3rd brake light with LED's. You can find the light at Jeg's and Leds-R-Us online. It doesn't look like they're going out of business. I'd try to get my hands on one of them and see if there's the same issue. This really stinks for you guys with '07's, but I'm sure they'll find a workaround. My .02.

Talked with Nino Sport this morning....they are exchanging the APC LED 3rd brake light, so we will see. Great customer service and a sincere interest in the problem!!

Once I receive the new light I will just unplug the stock one without installing the replacement and see what happens.

Art--thanks for the offer. Normally I'd meet you, but have a crazy week and week end of commitments revolving around the L.A. Marathon. Otherwise I'd be @ The Pomona Swap Meet on Sunday and could hook up then. Let's see what happens with the replacement.

Panama...thanks for the IPCW suggestion.....INMHO their light is less attractive. The APC fits in aesthetically, and while I personally like the center clear piece on the APC, do not like the clear IPCW with the 9 large "opening"...wonder if the stock lens is interchangeable as it is on the APC unit??

The reason for the different harnesses for 05- early 06 and 06 -07 is that Ford changed the lamp sockets from a pin / tab connection to a epoxy sealed connection. There was no change in the wiring or the way they work just the connectors. I agree with pamama it has to be something about the curtrsey lighting feature on the 07s.

I didn't care for the IPCW one either...was thinking about the stock lens swap as a candidate here.

Bill,

Sounds like Ninosport is on the ball on this. LMPerfermance e-mailed me back today and merely said to send back the item for a refund. No explanation on if anyone else ever had a problem, but hey, I'm happy I'm getting my money back.

If the new one from Ninosport works for you, I'll try ordering a another one from Ninosport this time. If it still glows, then we know for sure it's a problem with the '07's and might have to look at the other brand. Hopefully that won't do it too.

Thanks for the info.
