I installed a pair of BMR LCA's (non-adjustable) about 2 weeks ago...and finally got arround to greasing them.

After I installed them the first time...I still got mad wheel hop when I dropped the clutch (2500rpm). I figured I might have not installed them properly or it was because I didn't grease them.

So, when I removed them this last weekend...and greased them....I made sure to get every bolt REALLY tight and that they were indeed installed correctly.

Greasing them solved the squeaking....yet


I still have wheel hop! When I dump the clutch at about 2,500 rom and gas it.....the rear end bounces arround, the car shakes.....and I hear "BAM BAM BAM BAM"...like I am driving over a bunch of bumps. No "smooth patches of rubber" or "firm take offs" as others have reported. I am really bummed. :bang:

I notice NO difference since installing these LCA's.

Could it be too much air in my tires, too much power to the stock tires with adding the tune, etc?

Did I do something wrong?

 

Not sure to be honest, I installed the steeda LCA's and my launches turned silky smooth, I haven't had 1 bit of wheel hop since then.

 

I've never had any wheel hop with mine. Try checking to see that your tire pressures are correct, i.e., esp, the same in both tires on the rear.

t-control is off...I will check the tire pressure. What PSI do you guys run on the stock tires.

I only get the wheel hop if I really push it...

 

I have Steeda's with no problems.

You might define "dropped" the clutch and it might give us a hint.

 

from a stop, rev to about 2500rpm.....let the clutch out....give it full throttle (or feather it). the car bangs, jumps, hops for a while....then decides to burnout/get traction.

 

Sounds like for some reason you're getting a wind up of the rear springs. Does it do it on all pavements? Have you installed a lowering kit? (springs) Does it do it with TC on?

Paul, I had the exact same problem. If you are bored search through some of my old posts about control arms and you can see my same frustrations. My cure for the wheel hop was installing an upper control arm. Unfortunately I can't confirm that an upper arm arm will fix your problems as the arms I installed are all adjustable. Good Luck.

Stop dumping the clutch and doing burn outs.

 

I have installed the Steeda billets and I have 285's out back and I can no longer make it hop.

 

I also have the Steeda's and it totally removed the hop. With slicks and launching anywhere from 2000-5500 rpm, still no hop. I still replaced the upper third link, which is also supposed to remove hop. Another hop cure is changing out to better shocks. I don't know anything about air bags, but they too will work-as I've been told.

 

Thanks, Derek. It's interesting how the '05 has certain problems, but everyone seems to have them at different degrees. I don't have lca's and have never had any wheel hop issues. Anyway, I was hoping to find a logical culprite for him. But if there's nothing obvious, he should look into the upper arm.

 

Good point though, if you are side stepping the clutch, wheel hop will soon become your least of worries !

If you are side stepping the clutch, I can only tell you from experience that side stepping will eat your clutch quick. Mine didn't last too long.

 

Can also take out rear end, drive shaft or tranny, not necessarily in that order, and not ruling out several items at once.
