Kenne Bell Boost A Pump

Does anyone have any experience with this unit? I keep hearing that most people are going to like Ford GT fuel pumps or GT500 or dual Focus pumps- would this unit be enough to support around 9lbs of boost or a 150 shot of nitrous?

Here is a link to the Kenne Bell unit: http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/fuelsystem.html

Thanks,

Tom

I'm running the Boost A Pump with the stock fuel pump, and I have no Fuel drop off issues. I am currently running 8 psi, but am on the fence about upping it to 10 psi. I will keep the BAP until I go upwards of 12 psi on a build motor.

These BAP's should be fine for up to 500 rwhp. Just make sure to get a Fuel Pressure gauge to monitor your fuel. NEXUS is a great set of gauges that allow you to set "Warning" points on your gauges. This will make your gauge turn red when you get into your set "warning zone".

Most people who are going with the Dual Pump set ups, are going to be pushing close to or above 500 rwhp, or they are using it as an added insurance.

IMO, the BAP works fine for low boost applications.

MikeM runs the BAP set at 30% on the 175 shot and has plenty of fuel

Awesome guys, thanks for the feedback!

This is part of a blower package that I'm considering that should be right around 500h at the flywheel, 440 at the wheels.

Are you guys running fuel pressure gauges? If so, what's the best way to install one on these cars?

i am running one. if your stock or use a vortech, you can get the Motoblue adapter from RPM outlet. if you have a KB, they give you an adapter with a pre drilled hole for a fuel pressure gauge. its really easy to set up.

I'm looking at this kit since I'm local to them and they've installed alot of them already with great success: http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_200...rchargers.html

I'm guessing that I'll need the adaptor that you mentioned 'Bird.

I've got a MotoBlue Fuel Rail Access Kit layin' around that I couldn't use for my Kenne Bell. It's not used, but I opened the package thinking it would work.

Send me a PM if you want it.

Is it the kit that goes right on the fuel rail and has the gauge? If so I'll have to figure out if it I can make it work with my CDC shaker.

It goes right on the fuel rail, but it does not come with a gauge. It has a "port" for a gauge though.

It's just like the NX one...http://www.nitrousexpress.com/Pages/FuelRailAdapt.htm

if the paxton is like the vortech they give you a new fuel pump which you have to remove the stock one, splice it into the stock one and put it back in, of which it still doesnt work. we did it on my buddies vortech and he had major fuel issues. so we installed the KB boost a pump and his fuel issues are totally gone. yes you would need the moto blue adapter

Thanks guys. The Paxton kit comes with the BAP instead of a replacement pump.

S197GT, when I do the blower I'll see if you still have your Motoblue piece.

THANKS!

wow Tom, you are shooting for the moon now!! I would get a wideband commander to monitor your a/f rather than get a fuel pressure gauge.

They are almost the same fp goes down a/f goes lean... I think it gives you more peace of mind watching the a/f as that is an indicator of whether or not your car is running safe.

Thanks Justin- I planned on getting both gauges: fuel pressure and a/f. As far as "shooting for the moon", I don't plan on launching the space shuttle until spring.....

This is my car Ron is talking about. I didn't have major fuel issues or any fuel issues at all (as long as I was fine with making less power).

My issue was when the car made 471 rwhp on the dyno it was too lean.. the Walbro fuel pump supplied with the Vortech couldn't handle that so it was tuned back to 448 rwhp.

As long as I wanted to stay at the lower power I was fine with the Walbro spliced in fuel pump. Obviously since I saw the car make 471 at the wheels I wanted it so I suppplemented the fuel system with the KB BAP. Plenty of psi now.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm shooting for 420 to 440 rwhp until I build the shortblock. I just start with the BAP so I can upgrade later.
