I read the K&N air charger was "C.A.R.B. pending". Is it legal in California? The last intake I bought had a C.A.R.B. exempt sticker and I know it was California emissions legal. No idea what the diff is, anyone know? I like the idea of getting an intake with some gains without having to invest in a tune right away, would like to buy one asap if its legal here.

I did see somewhere that it said 49 state legal, and if you check K&N's website it says this

Street Legal in Most States (not street legal in CA)

the new stangs are coming without the trap in them, this is not something you need, it can be safely removed. for the k&n though, removing the trap might require a tune, i would get a tune with any CAI anyway, to get the most out of it.

when did you order the flowmasters from brothers performance? If you can, in time, cancel the order and I'll give you the place where i bought mine for $245. I know brothers charged like $40-50 for shipping or something like that, jus giving ya an opportunity to save some money.

All,

FYI - By far the least expensive on-line that I could find...was from Summit; $277.39 and this includes (free) shipping...

I've been eyeing that k&n kit and am planning on getting it soon. I also would like to get the new exhaust as well. What is the part name or number of the flowmaster everybodies' talking about. Also is it necessary to tune the computer after these parts are put on. Thanks for any input anyone can give me.

Here is the info that you seek. Get it quick, the setup is hot.

Ordered my K&N CAI today so I should have the same setup as you Torrence. Can't wait to get them. I am not going to be doing a tune at this time so will I need to reset the computer after installing these mods?

yes, for both mods, the computer will need to be reset! Resetting will recalibrate the computer to the new parts.

Right now I am running the stock airbox with the HC trap out but I think I am going to pick up this K&N and put the trap back in. I want a CAI but I don't feel like paying for the CAI and the tune at the same time. It seems from what everyone is saying that the only way to avoid this is to get the K&N, put the HC trap back in and then when ready to tune jusr remove the HC and do it.

Stupid question but is resetting the computer done by simply unhooking the battery?

I'm running the K&N without my H/C trap in with no problems. Runs great. Made a 5 hour trip this weekend in her down 85 in NC doing 80-90 the whole way. Got 26.6mpg for the trip. No CEL's, no problems at all. This system work really well for the money and if you don't want to tune it. I've been running mine for two weeks now, daily driver.
