LCA's first, PAnhard and springs at the same time because you'll need the panhard bar adjusted when you lower it. Then gears and finish it up with tires and wheels.

But that's just my opinion???

THanks, Doug

These cars are way to nice to be trashed on the 1/4 mile strip. Go buy a old fox body to drag and keep the new one for show. UNLESS you're rich if something goes on it; then by all means go for performance. For me, I had plenty of Mustangs in my time with tons of performance mods in each one of 'em. Now I have a show car with four 1st place trophies to show for it since I bought my car back in April of '05. No matter which way you lean toward, do whatever makes you happy.[/b]

Hmmm... I have a car with one 1st place car show trophy (I have only entered one show) and seven more trophies at the drag strip since I bought my car back in April of '05.

I just don't agree with the above statement, no offense but I just feel differently...It's all about maintenance. Yes these car's are nice but if modified properly and taken care of, weekend track visits will not destroy them. It would also depend how one drives them too I guess i.e doing brake stands instead of installing line lock's etc. IMO driving them daily is more abusive to them or any vehicle for that matter, stop and go driving, increased accident potentials and parking lot horrors... I guess it boils down to common sense and proper care and maintenance. I have won my share of car shows but her primary role in life is to enjoy driving and win races... You can have both if you take the time to do things right and do your PM's...

Thanks for your opinion. I decided to go with the LCA's, Relocation Brackets, and Gears.

Thanks Doug!

4.10s or 4.30s? well there is VERY little rpm difference between them.... so I got the 4.30s, and I drive about 75-80 miles on the highway/freeway a day, 5 days a week, along with some around town driving.... and I am REALLY REALLY happy with them. its about 2800 rpms at 85, so 5th gear has a lot more kick, and I downshift to 4th a lot less... and around town, the 4.30s are simply a blast. 1st is NOT too low like some say, and they really throw you back in your seat when you hit it. Also, instead of just chirping 2nd.... i can leave 30 feet of rubber, and have a good hearty chirp along with a foot or 2 of rubber on a good day..... sooooo that being said.... I would go for 4.30s. I love mine.

That helps my 4.30 vs. 4.10 decision, too. I've been waffling for a while now, but had pretty much settled on the 4.30's--thanks for the input. I just want to wait another month or so--I'd rather not have to get used to them while there is still a risk of snow/ice (this gives me a year to adjust my driving habits...).

Smart thinking. It's still raining here in Nor Cal, but I'll be fine. NOw I just hope my LCAs will get hear by Sat. If not, oh well...

Do the 4.30s make more noise than the 4.10s. Everybody I see that has the 4.30s complains about how noisy they are.

I have no idea? I think I'll stick with the 4.10s now that I think about it.

I really do a lot of city driving. Or let me refraise that, I do a lot of Bay Area driving. So I think the 4.30s may be too much for my application.

my 4.30s make a LITTLE BIT of noise.... but its very mild, and the Loudmouths take care of that. I would get the 4.30s again without thinking twice. Especially if I did a lot of city driving. I think there should be a big difference in feel between the 4.10s, but very small rpm difference.

Thanks Rich. I figure you'd approve of the gears!!!

I found a shop in the San Jose area that'll do them for under 500 bucks. Parts and Labor! I think it's the same place Cleveland (Dan) got his done.
Rear End Specialties? Maybe, if I can find the time, I can come out and see ya.

Thanks for the response man! I wish I could afford to do it all at once!

I wanted your opinion for 2 reasons. What do you think about 4.10s as opposed to 4.30s for my M5 daily driver? Would you drop it that much if you had to do it again?

I will get the gears done first. Unless the UPS guy get's here sooner with the LCAs and brackets.
4.30 > 4.10 in every way possible, and yes i've had BOTH. mileage was essentially the same, but the 4.30s had sooo much more seat of pants kick. and while first is almost useless for me now, i can still 0-60 in under 4.5 slippin the whole way.

if i had to do it all over again i would look for a 1.5in drop, because although the 2.25in that i ended up with is freaking awesome, i plan to put on 20s (i hate 20s, but i fell in love with a special set of...foose nitrous :worship: ), and because of the lil extra drop, i have to go with 35 series tires and can only go 275 wide instead of 285+ in back.

I sent the shop an Email requesting to change to the 4.30s. I told you I was indecisive. If it's too late, I'll stick with the 4.10s. Otherwise, 4.30s baby!!!

Well, I talked to my installer and at first he said that he would order me the 4.30s even though he already ordered the 4.10s. But when I told him that I have the stock rims and tires, he said that he would advise against the 4.30s because of the tire height.

So instead of listening to my conscience (4.30s...4.30s...4.55s maybe) I took his advice! I settled for the 4.10s and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Now, what should I look for as far as whining? I've never heard gears whine before. Is it something that I'll definately recognize, or will my exhaust over power it?

it sounds like a whirring or whistling type sound, you'll know it when it happens.

It sounds like your girlfriend when you tell her that she doesn't need another pair of shoes.
