Just got failsafe mode

I was just cruising along the highway when my car jumped and it beeped failsafe mode at me. I'm like, what the heck. I get to work just now and no my K&N did not fall off again. I reflashed my diablo back to stock tune and disconnected the battery. This is the first time this happened. I literally work right across the street from a Ford dealer, but I'll wait to see if it's just a fluke.
I hope all goes well.
edited to add: there were no trouble codes either

I drove from Miami to Orlando a couple of weeks ago. On the way back I got the "Failsafe Engine Mode" also. I pulled over into a plaza and turned the car off and back on. The failsafe cleared and didn't occur again. No codes either. I have a CAI and SCT tune. I wrote to the guy that I ordered from and he told me to make sure everything was tight and to check all the sensors. I haven't gotten the "failsafe" fault again. Maybe it was a fluke. For me it happened under hard acceleration so I don't know if something shifted up front or what but it happened. I ran the car hard the rest of the day and no faults.
good luck.

I just hooked the battery back up and took it for a spin around the block. No problems. We'll see if it happens again.
It is raining out, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I think its just a fluke...
Once I was headed into a freeway down ramp (half a cloverleaf) doing....say about 80. I hit the pedal to the floor to pass a car on the left in a straight that was running up into the ramp and the car went into failsafe mode. I have to apply the brakes and down shift the auto quickly to safely take the ramp under normal conditions. I had a very hard time keeping the car out of the wall doing like ~30 when the ramp is suggested @ 20mph.
When I got to the bottom unscratched I shut the motor down and lifted the hood, everything was right as rain. I then checked the codes and there were a few in there, one was listed as the Intake Runner Control was stuck open @ WOT. Throttle Body control actuator something was another one I think. I even took a picture of the Diablo's screen for entertainment sake.
I think wierd stuff is going to happen with this new Spanish Oak...makes me want to remove as many controls as possible.

It's funny how almost all of these Failsafes are all related to aftermarket intakes...

I've yet to see failsafe mode. hopefully I never do. The only problem I have run into is a hesitation on hard acceleration at high speeds (5th to 4th downshift) after holding a constant speed for >30min.

What exactly happens when the engine computer goes into Failsafe mode?

Since i switched to the SCT Scanner it has been happening to me alot.It happened to me on the highway.
Everytime it happens i just turn the ignition off then restart. It always clears it even at speed.
Another reason it will come on is if you try to beat on the car before it is warmed up.Temp. Must be over 175 before any burnouts or other ruff stuff.

you only run on like 3 cylinders, at least it felt like it

ie 1-3-5-7 first turn then 2-4-6-8 second turn and so forth

Failsafe mode runs on 4 cylinders a cycle on GT. The cylinders alternate firing per each turn of the crank.
