if you buy a ex2 calerber from one dealer can you buy programs from a differant dealer to try their tune or do you have to buy another tuner with their tunes in it?

I dont have one yet, but my understanding is you can connect it to your computer and send the tunes to your tuner and they can send you tunes in an email and download it to your tuner.

If both tuners use the same software, ie SCT, then yes. If you mean a tune from a tuner using SCT and one from a DiabloSport based tuner then no.

Yea, if you have an SCT tuner you can download tunes from any SCT dealer. Just remember that the tuner itself will hold only 3 tunes in addition to the stock tune, and you can only download to the tuner, you can't upload from the tuner, so if you loose a tune from your tuner the only way to get it back is from the dealer (if it is not saved on your computer).

I don't have a tuner, but I have heard that they can be emailed. So they should be able to be saved on your computer.

They can be emailed stored on your computer and some parameters can be adjusted then downloaded into your tuner to be uploaded into your car.

Some tuners though do not like emailing their tunes because they are afraid of them being copied.

This is a good place to ask, are all tunes code specific to your car or can you use anyone's tune with the same specs?

The SCT Tunes are Specific to your cars computer. When you order the XCAL 2 they need your Computer code, (4 chr on side of PCM) the first time you plug in the SCT Tuner and upload a tune, the tuner downloads the stock tune and locks the tuner to the car. So No you can not tune a friends car that has the same specs.

If you ever want to sell the tuner, you must First plug in the tuner to the car and upload the stock tune to "unlock" the tuner. If you do not do this, the tuner is usless to the buyer.

Doug at bamachips sent me 5 tunes as well as stock on a CD, along with my xcal2 when I ordered, all you have to do is ask

I would assume as far as other people with the same mods, as long as your vehicles are identical and have the same computer code you could provide them with your tune file for them to use with thier own xcal2 if this is what you were referring to when asking about same exact specs. But yes you can't use your tuner on more than 1 vehicle at a time. So for example, if I had my tuner from bamachips and my friend had his tuner from brenspeed and we both had exact same setup and computer calibration code, I would think I could give him the tune file for him to upload into his tuner and flash his car if he wanted to try it. This is just a guess on my part since I dont know anyone in this situation, but sounds like it would work.

Although even if this was the situation, I would recommend getting the tune files from the tuner, I believe for the minimal fee they would charge for just a tune, for the great work the tuners do it's worth it.
