JDM's - Saleen Supercharger and Stage 1 kit?

What's the difference in HP between the baseline kit, and the stage 1?

I was looking on JDM's site, and Brenspeeds and both have pretty drasticly different power ranges. I was under the impression that the Stage 1 will produce 425(like JDM's site says), but Brenspeed has it at 470hp with the same parts. Kinda confused. I definately don't want to go past 425 without a built shortblock. Any1 have any experience with JDM's stage 1 kit?

I believe the Brenspeed kits are put together by Brenspeed, not Saleen. Same with JDM. Therefore, a JDM Stage 1 kit may be completely different from a Brenspeed Stage 1 kit.

Read the Brendspeed one a little better
http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_200...leenstage1.jpg

That's 470 FLYWHEEL horsepower
So Brenspeed is basically just advertising it like Saleen or Roush would advertise their already SC'ed cars that's all

JDM advertises RWHP

Both kits seem very comparable

I have heard good buzz about Brenspeed and their take with these Saleen Series VI kits though

I am running the equivilant of a Stage 1 JDM kit with the 3.6 pulley I bought from a friend - have dynoed at 326 and 340 rwhp

I,am having JDM install the stage one kit at the end of the month. My understanding is the hp rating from them is at the rear wheels.

Perhaps Brenspeed is using Flywheel HP and JDM is using Rear Wheel HP. With a Saleen SC the only different would be in the size of the pulley and the tune.

Brenspeed uses the flywheel rating mainly because different transmissions, tire sizes, etc. will affect rwhp readings.

For example the JDM kit that says 425 rwhp- if one person has a manual with stock wheels/tires and the next person has an auto with 20" wheels/tires, the two cars will NOT both be 425 rwhp.

Oh ok, my bad. Do you guys know what the general HP range that you don't want to surpass for an unbuilt motor is? is it 420-450 RWHP? or is it 420-450 flywheel?

Isn't that HP rating really low for what they advertise(since you said it's the equivalent of JDMs Stage 1)?

Thanks for that catch on the flywheel HP, btw.

475rwhp. After that you're pushing it.

Well I'll tell ya man - it does depend on the car and the blower

I have the 3.6 pulley which is supposed to me 7.5/8 lbs boost - at the top of my pull, I'm pushing 10lbs so go figure - there is always some leeway low or high depending on the car and the conditions

Lemme say that 400 + rwhp should be fun in anyone's book - it truly is a blast

I would NOT want to push past 450/460 (rwhp) on a stock block myself - just my opinion [which means if you go with a kit 500 fly wheel hp you should be just fine brotha]

I'm looking at the Brenspeed Stage 3 right now. It's a few hundred more, but worth it if you ask me.

The Stage 2 Brenspeed is more comparable to the Stage 1 JDM - both use the 3.6 pulley. And the stage 3 Brenspeed and Stage 2 JDM both use the 3.4 pulley.

That seems low... Almost 100 hp low.

Would you say your set-up with a centri-charger is a bit more reliable at that power rating than say a twin-screw? Granted if they make the same power at around the same RPM, the TS's will make more torque under the curve... I'm just wondering if the torque down low kills the shortblock faster than the short burst high RPM HP. I love the Sonic Blue, btw.
