Tom.. do you think I would see enough gains to justify the purchase? I have LT headers now and will be installing stage 3 Comp Cams.

Yup but I doubt that you can compare Jim Jr.'s motor to your ordinary 281

True... stroked and P&P heads will make a nice difference.

Well I have no first hand experience, I'm only referring to what my tuner / local tuner has proven (Brenspeed) and they were the first to tell me that there is nothing to be gained when you have typical bolt-ons, but when you really start playing with performance mods such as cams, etc. there is power to be found. And to be fair, we're not talking about 15+hp- more than likely it's under 10 hp as is the case in this example: http://www.brenspeed.com/tech/compcams.html

At $299, JDM's kit is more then fair, considering you get the spacer which is tapered to fit the stock intake holes, gaskets, clamps and tubing along with the throttle body. If you have the means to make your own spacer or would like to chance opening up the stock plastic intake, you can pick up this throttle body thru Ford for just over $100 bucks.

When I talked to Jim he said the TB would be good for a few HP but the benefits in throttle response were worth the switch. I have one of his spacers on order and will be trying this TB with my new setup.

Will a retune be necessary?
Would the engine cover still fit with the spacer?
Does the ETC motor bolt-on to the V10/GT500 TB?

Ok.. Umm no on the tune, not sure about the engine cover and I believe the ETC motor does. There is a more in detailed thread on Modularfords.com if you want to check it out.

Update

Looks like JDM has these for sale. A bit expensive at 400 bucks. Will this have any improvement on a N/A motor, or is it a waste like other throttle bodys?

If there is any improvement on an N/A motor, I suspect it would be negligible. Heck, most supercharged guys are getting by fine with the stock TB until they get up past 13-14 psi. I'm still running a stock TB at 12psi without issues.

N/A shouldnt expect any real gains....maybe slightly quicker throttle response.
