Instead of a Challenger or a Shelby Gt...

is it that difficult to drop a 5.4 GT-500 engine in a GT bay? Six speed included.

no just 20+k or so and cpu 12 hr of labor to convert done three so far you'll love it but you might think of a turbo 11psi if you have an a/t change stall converter to 3400 or 3600 stall change gears 3.55 or 3.73 pull mid 9's about 146 mph built six of these bad a$$
save money and still get good fuel econ. better than 5.4 supercharge about 12 k

Baha, I was thinking the same thing!!

Anyways, if you have the cash to do it- it would definitely be a cool swap but a more cost effective idea would be to add a Turbo and forge the bottom end of your GT.

Why would you want to drop a 5.4 GT500 engine when you could drop a 4.6L forged motor that is lighter and could still pump out the same HP?

The heavy engine is the GT500's downfall IMHO. Why carry that over to your car.

I'll give you a hundred bucks to run "mid 9's" on 11 psi in one of these cars with the other stuff you said.

agree - and in the long run more expensive. There are some things that had to be made smaller on the 5.4 to get it to fit into the GT 500 (oil pan or other item?). and the weight distribution is not good as stated earlier.

I bought the shelby gt because it was cheaper than if I were to do it myself (CS8). If you already have a mustang gt though, the CS8 is a cool looking car in my opinion and a hot performer if you get it supercharged... good luck with your decision

Either car the Shelby GT or Challenger would be nice to have. Since my GT is paid for and I really like this Stang I could save around 30k with a 5.4 mod instead of getting another car.If I just keep the 4.6 it would prolly end up getting a Kenne Bell S/C. My exterior mods have come to an end.I may as well make the GT haul azz instead of more plastic on the body of the car.

If you have a car that is paid for and you are thinking of getting a 5.4 liter, why not just get the GT500 and trade in the GT?
You might be surprised, with a S/C on a GT. I just had 3.90's installed and I have the WHIPPLE and man does thing move.... I couldn't imagine anymore power, although I have been thinking about getting a GT500.....
I am a FORD man all the way, so the Challenger would be out for me.
