installing steeda pulleys, where is the new alt. bolt go?
I was looking at the install and double cking the torques. Where is the new alternator bolt go? There is the old bolt I assume in the box from the mechanic. Did he change it out?
I looked at the alternator, there are 2 bolt/nuts on the bottom portion, closest to the pulley (at the 5 adn 7 oclock location. The one on the right as you face it that almost rubs the pulley and belt. It is painted the same color as the alternator.
So can anyone show me a pic or help me find the location of it to make sure?
I thought I read that not changing it out causes a problem. with a 5 speed how do you keep the pulley from turning after the final torque is applied ( the 90 degrees) I got it in 1st gear. I noticed on the pulley there are 180, 270, 90 on it. is that you reference in pulling the final degrees????

ok, how? there does not seem to be a way to replace it. the existing bolt has a nut on it and I felt around and no head on the other end. (it does not seem to be a real bolt at all). And the replacement bolt has not nut or washer. A little more help.
Thanks

It's a stud which can be unscrewed.
First remove the nut and then if you look closely the stud has a hex head which can be used to remove the stud.

thanks for the help thump rrr
Got it. had to use the alt. nuts as jam nuts to get the stud out, but it is cool now. I could tell it was rubbing on the top back side of the pulley it was shiny on the rear lip just a little.
Thanks again
