Installed Saleen shifter block

Have to give a BIG thank you to Taco Bill and his "how to". Installed the Saleen short shifter block in my 08 GT and it feels great! But when Taco says not to over tighten the pin. That means DON'T OVER TIGHTEN THE PIN!! I got it feeling just right after a nice light snug-up. Used blue lock-tight and all is good!

Now that i've had a good week to drive with this thing I have some questions. Are all short shifter this notchy? This thing is slowing my shifts considerably. the one thing I can think of is the design of it. This block adds length to the bottom of the shifter shortening the throw but not adding any length to the arm of the shifter makes it harder to get into gear. I like the feel of it, but for the racing types I would steer clear of it. I made sure that I didn't over tighten the pin too. Everything is installed perfect. Just some info for anyone looking at getting one.

The 'notchy' is in the transmission and amplified by the shorter lever arm of a short throw shifter. The shorter the arm the more leverage force required to overcome the resistance in the internal transmission linkage.

Good thing you we're around for the old Hurst Competition Plus on my Top Loaders.

I dont have the saleen shift block but i put the bbk short throw in my 07 gt. During and everyday driving conditions it is notchy and does require a little more force to get into gears. But during race condition i know put a little more force into shifting so i dont really notice it. You will get used to how it feels and be able to overcome it pretty quickly.

The shifter does feel not notchy at first, I've had mine in for about 2 weeks (thanks taco bill, installation was a snap with the guide) I have noticed it has loosened up a little, that or I am just use to it now. I think once you get it down the shifts are much quicker, it does require a little more effort than stock but overall its made my times quicker.

Haha I agree with the toploader staement. I have a toploader in my 65 with the hurst shifter. yeah..underload, talk about "POWERSHIFTING" and I do not mean that in the powershift way.

Think I want to try that Saleen short block...

Yet another mod to go out and get....

Not to crash the original thread, but I'm doing a 6060 swap in a month or so and will have a Roush billet shifter that will be looking for a new home. Undecided on price as yet.
