so whats the best place to get the champions right now????

i better get on this while i can.. i have 23k on mine and i dont want to break them off...

 

I got mine at Moss Mustang but you can also get them at Rock Auto and Summit Racing. Unfortunately they are all between $13 - $16 a piece. Some sites have them for $20 - $23 a piece.

 

I went to Napa and got them for $17 a piece with my military discount... i was gonna get them online but it would have only saved me like $10 so I said screw it...

and i had to buy 16 cause my friend has an 05 King Ranch and we are gonna change his plugs out too....

ill be doing mine tonight so ill post up some photos when im done....

 

well i did the swap.... no problems at all. i followed the tsb instructions to the t and it worked out fine... i only had 23k on the clock so i figured it wouldnt be too bad..

were gonna do my friends king ranch soon and its got 40k on it, so im expecting it to be a little rougher...

I also have 23K on my odometer. I need to do mine. But I know this is a Champion plug thread but are they the best ones? Brenspeed sells Brisk and Autolite for a N/A car for similiar pricing. What is the best choice in plugs for a N/A guy? Are the Autolites a one piece design?

the only ones i know of that are 1 piece are the champs and brisks....

its worth it to me... she seems to run the same.. so who knows what plug is better.

The Champions are double platinum, so they will last longer than Brisk.
I have been running the Champions for about 6k running good, I did have a
problem when first got them, 1 had broken ceramic up inside hidden by ground
shield, caused a miss when ceramic slid down and covered electrode,
Summit replaced no hassle, been good since.
If you don't want to buy new plugs atleast pull them and clean off carbon,
scotch pad works great, and re-antisieze, thats what I did before 1 piece were available.

 

When you had the misfire, did you throw a code or was it obvious? I'd imagine kind of like when you cut off an injector and the engine kind of shutters?

I had read about that problem with the champions on here before but I hope that was you. Did you post pictures of the offending plug?

Never thru a fault code when missing, just felt miss mainly when engine cold.

 

Though that's not cheap, we should all be be fortunate that we're not paying $35-$76 a piece for between 8-12 (depending on the engine, 4 or 6 cyl. "two plugs per jug") plugs like my customers do for their aircraft engines!

that's $280-$420 @$35 or $608-$912 @$76 just for plugs, not to mention $85/hr for labor.

 

Everyone still happy with their champs? How many miles?

 

I still love my Champions. 6K+ miles and the car starts, & runs great, gets great gas mileage and I no longer worry about broken spark plugs. Couldn't be happier.

 

My car started sputtering after 100 miles due to misfires.I bought new factory plugs and the problem went away. My champs went in the scrap heap. They are JUNK

 

that sucks.... the ford dealer told me that other customers hated the champion plugs also....

mine has about 250 miles on them now and she runs fine, hopefully it stays that way

 

My Champions have been in for several months now and I couldn't be happier. I pulled them a couple weeks ago to check them and they looked like new. The car runs great with the Champions.

 

My Champions have been in for about 6 weeks now and they are performing just fine. It is great not having the threat of broken plugs hanging over your head.

I just pulled each plug, wiped it down, coated with high temp nickel anti-seize and reinstalled. 18K miles. I'm hoping to see a more consistent quality one piece design. Either that or the Champions drop about 60-70% in price.

The car is a year old and the plugs did not require any chemicals to loosen. They just popped loose on about the 3rd or 4th try not exceeding 37 ft-lbs. They had a brown powdery coating that I wiped off and then applied the nickel with a small brush.
