so if a dealer refuses warranty, or voids it altogether, can you demand a refund for the cash value that the warranty would have had?

i wonder....

Good question. I didn't get an extended warranty and just have the free dealer one, so no question there for me. But I think you could argue getting your money back if you paid for an extended one.

You can always get a refund with an extended warrenty if you haven't reached 3/36,000 yet. If you're past it, you might be able to get a partial refund.

The Magnusson Act states that they can't void your entire warranty due to modifying the vehicle, just what the modification could possible cause damage to.
Don't know all the details, but if you do a search, there is a link somewhere on this forum.

US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302&copy . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov.
