I'm wondering about the driving position with the new seats. All the aftermarket seat installs on the factory bases appear to raise the seat height due to the required spacer plate and the different design of the aftermarket seat frames. The 05 seats sit pretty low in the car.

id wait a bit till the aftermarket catches up so that you can get exactly what you want...either that or find a local place to fab up a seat bracket for ya...might cost a bit but i think part of the appeal of the 05's is that you sit so low....

thanks adrenalin for flexing your mod muscle :P

There's a place in Chelmsford that does roll cages. I'll find out tomorrow at work the name of the place.

What's the big deal about waiting till April? You can't race until then anyway.

Welch Welding
162 Middlesex St
North Chelmsford, MA 01863

phone: 978-251-8726 or 800-872-7569

They're an automotive welding shop, and there's a kid that works there that has worked on supermodified race cars and put in a roll bar in my co-worker's Mustang vert this summer. I think the majority of the work they do there is plows and hitches, but they do any kind of car/truck welding. I don't know how good they are but several people here say they're good. Wouldn't hurt to call or go down there and talk to somebody.

I love the Cobra Misano seats. The same ones used in 3D Carbon's Boy Racer Mustang at SEMA.

Ok Guys.I am going to do my own chrome molly 8 point cage.I have access to a bender and tube notcher at the shop that I subcontract for.I have keys to the shop and can use anything I like.I will be tig welding everything along with a custom subframe conector. On our cars you have to build boxes for the cage to weld to.Also eliminate the rear seats.I see no way to get to the trunk arround them.
Give me some time,I will document all my bends and lengths and have the print to do others when I am done.
I will do anyone elses once mine is complete.

Thanks Dustin. I'll give them a call Friday.
I would not go there.very Dirty and dark shop. They do, do good welding on big trucks and plows but i would not trust them with a brand new car.You have to take your time and remove everything and welding the top bars without ruining the headliner is very tricky.Give me some time and i can do all our cars ounce I get the bends documented and boxes designed.

This is how Kenny Brown gets to the trunk with the rear seat still in the car. Keep in mind that this is not a legal cage and is used more for chassis stiffening than anything else.

Is this illegal due to not having the cross bar behind the headrest or because it runs beside the seats to the rear. I'm not too sure of what the rules require as far as where the bars run too.

What a waste of time for nothing.I like where the bars go to the rear, but you could only do that with the bolted cage. You would not be able to get the plastics back on if the cage was fully welded. Also george is correct on the side door bars. They have to pass between your shoulder and elbows.

You could pass the tube through the plastic and then weld it in place. A good TIG welder can do it in place without the worry of spatter. It all depends to what standard of quality you like to build to.
