Great choice! I have them in my 01', and love them. You'll love the thick padding in the kirkey covers, very..very comfortable.

Just be sure to get a time quote ahead of time lol
Im at 11 months and still wating for the 01 to come back from the chassis shop, they said two more weeks today. Shes being built 25:2 specs, with Hot Street in mind. But...the long wait, turns into "extra" stuff for free... lol
Chassis guys are notorious for delays, but thats expected.

Chromemoly is the way to go, your setting the pace George

Well, for me I went with the 17" pro street drags. Each seat is around 120, and the covers were ~75, but well worth it, padding is incredible.

For a race car, those are cool. My friend has them in his 88 5.0 and they really hold you in. For a street car, I would prefer Corbeaus or Recaros.

Chalon has been wanting Sparco seats until she saw the price. I am torn between the Kirkey and Corbeau seats myself. It is sad that we are considering taking out perfectly good leather, power seats. George, if you don't mind I would like to know what you are getting your roll bar installed for. There is a local chassis/cage shop opening up here in the next couple of months and I know the guy who will be doing the work but I want his price to be realistic with what other 05's will be paying. So post it or PM me if you can.

I found a guy here that will be doing my 8 pt. roll bar in Chromoly for $1000 with removeable side bars. I am going with the removeable side bars as opposed to swing outs b/c the removeables have shorter attaching pieces. Less likely to bang your elbow or ankles! He does really nice work too. You can keep a business card tucked between the roof and upper bar.
For those that don't know...8 pt has 2 extra bars that are behind the seats that prevent collapsing in case you roll. 6 pt. is all that is needed if you tap 11.49's.

George,
Have you figured out how to attach these seats to the factory electric base or are you going to delete that portion and fab them up to the car?

I always thought racing seats would be cool for 5 point harnesses. The only drawbacks are, it's hard to judge a comfortable seat from a catalog, and if the harnesses aren't mounted by someone who knows what they are doing, you have a huge risk of injury in an accident.

Just thought I'd pass this on to you George.............NHRA Rule revision for 2006
During competition, NHRA prohibits the use of a portable computer while the vehicle is in operation. Such items as a laptop, PDA, Palm Pilot, programmer, and the like may not be installed or located in a vehicle at any point beyond the staging-area ready line. All functions or values must be preset prior to this point.
— If this rule is enforced at local NHRA Member Tracks, they can kiss ninety percent of their Grudge Night business goodbye.

I was going to build something for mine too, but my track is a NHRA track and more than likely won't allow it. If they enforce the wheel stud length rule, I'm sure they'll enforce this one.

Just a heads up...I just know that I'm going to do something to my car that's not going to be legal at the track. Just trying to avoid it!

George tons of people use their laptops at the track anyway. Just keep it low key and put the laptop away when ur getting inspected. Close the screen when you get to the line, but leave it running. They just want you to keep your eyes off the screen and on the track. It'll be easier to do at night.

I see tons of people with laptops on the passenger seat, plugged in with the screen closed. When they get to the line, they just throw a shirt over it.

I see the same thing at my local track. Almost every car that runs hard has a laptop in the passenger seat. I've just been looking at the rules a bit lately and see that they have made a point to note it in the revisions for 06.
uh...I'd like the #2, supersized with a vanilla shake please. :P

George, do you drive with the seat in the same position as you race in. That's my only issue with going to a racing seat. I like to bring the seat a bit closer when I run. Have you looked at making it work with the stock pedestal, then again, that would almost defeat the purpose of lightening up.
