I managed to pull a 13.9 - protips ahead! + video

First off, she's stock as can be asides from the stripes and spoiler. Oh and SLP Loudmouths...but those don't do crap for performance.

When she was new the best time I had ever run was a 14.1 and that was when she was ice cold. Every other time that day it was 14.5+

Well this weekend we had some luck and after 5 passes I got her into the 13s

Temps were in the 60s/50s and I live below sea level. No spare tire.

First few runs were a 14.4, 14.9, and a 14.3. All with a trap of 102mph?!?!

Axle hop. Check. Screeching Pirellis. Check. Bad shifting. Check.

I deflated the tires to 25psi(one was actually at 15psi! uh oh). I actually spun my tires off in the water box for about 2-3 seconds. Just enough to hear them 'slosh'.

I Did not launch holding my rpms. I launched as if I was leaving a red light and hammered the gas down as soon as she gripped. I screeched lightly the whole way through 1st gear...not really peeling out but just screeching while pulling.

Ran this:

Don't spin your stock tires in the water box. Drive around it and do a little burn out to clean them off. No water.

hmm, thats strange that your trap was 102 for those times. The last time i took my v6 to the 1/4 mile, i ran 14.9@94mph and that was in 97 degrees and 59%humidity. Running a 13.9@102 sounds just right but its weird you ran 102mph with the other times

I hadn't even thought to just drive around it....duh....probably part of the reason i was having traction issues.

Also the trap speed is confusing isn't it? I couldn't figure it out. Every slip was either 101.9, 102.2, 102.7, etc it was silly really.

Trap speed will be about the same regardless of traction or ET assuming you stay in the throttle the whole pass. That's why trap speed is a great indicator of how much power your car makes.

ET's - on the other hand - tell the traction story. Bad traction will really show up as poor ET's. On a side note, put some drag radials on the car, perfect your launch, and shift lightning quick, and 102 mph trap speeds would be good for 13.30's or 13.40's in your car. That's how much your stock tires and lack of traction are hurting your ET's currently.

On his first ever run at the strip (in 07 right?) I actually beat him down the line in my 2000 GT Auto Vert. I don't think he can ever live that one down...

BTW. Got some ideas on the Fox I'll 'eventually' be building. I'll run em through ya next time we talk.

Trap speed is a good indicator of top end. Ever wonder how some cars run 14's at 120mph?
