Who has the Hurst shifter in an 'o6-'07? Do you like it? How much more noise did it create over stock unit? I like the look of it...and i see MGW is pushed here alot..but the price...ouch.

The price is worth it. With a hurst you're stuck with what they thought was a good throw.

I have had mine in for nearly two years now. Install was fairly easy. No noise problems (placed a piece of rubber between the shifter nub a and handle). A little notchy feeling at first due to the harder bushings. And you can't beat the looks.

You pay for what you get. If you can afford better why settle for less? I work part-time at Sears and I see often how poeple opt and settle for less to save a buck. Then you see them a few weeks later eyeing the next model up knowing it coulda been theres.
Just my 2 cents.

Uhhh, 3 things:
1. Hurst shifter is not any louder than stock, and absolutely belongs in this car. Looks fantastic.
2. For racing, I couldn't be happier. Run that thing down the 1/4 mile and see how much quicker you can shift when your throws are about 1.5 inches.
3. Settle? Wow, I'm sure you like your MGW shifter, a lot of people do. I can't stand it and would feel that I would be "settling" for an MGW shifter over the Hurst.
4. Ok, so I can't count, sue me. There is nothing better than the notchiness of this shifter, it's in gear or it's not, no in betweens. I drove a stock manual about 3 months after I installed my Hurst and thought that the transmission was falling out.
Buy the Hurst.

I've had the Hurst on my car for about 6 months now and I love the looks and the short throw. It DOES take a bit for it to break in and it will loose some of it's notchyness. For me, for the price, looks and performance that it does offer I'm happy.
Now, IF I could or wanted to buy the MGW to get a smoother/quicker shift I'd probably get it and put the Hurst ball on the MGW. After 6 months the Hurst is still just a little too notchy. Not enough, though, that I'm looking to spend 300+ bucks on a new shifter. Every once in awhile it bugs me for about a minute then I get over it.

I just put my Hurst in over the weekend. I absolutely love it!
Bare in mind that I did not have a complaint about the stock shifter. I have driven my car hard, and never missed a gear with it.
The move to the Hurst has yielded much shorter throws and more precision. The shifter action is typical Hurst, which is to say notchy, but all of my 4-speed musclecars had Hursts, and that is what I have come to like.
If my car was an all-out strip machine, I'd probably consider some other options, but the Hurst is perfect for me.
Do it and be prepared for miles of smiles!

Just put the Hurst Comp Plus shifter (391-0201) in this weekend (after waiting 5 weeks for delivery). Install went well (make sure you have a 10mm DEEP DISH socket for the rear mount to get over the studs). No noise, shifts great and can't beat the looks.

Hello Hurst owners...
I liked the throw of the Hurst. I only was able to feel it at a stand still though. Any of you have more noise in the vehicle at around 2500 rpm, especially in 5th gear (about 80 mph with 3.55's)?
I do with my Tri Ax and I can't see why any other shifter would not produce this same noise as they are mounted with a firmer material to the body in the rear. I even installed Dynomat, which really helped, but it is still there for me. It is engine noise as speed does not effect it. I can do it at 40 mph if I push the clutch in and go to 5th and rev it in nuetral. Yes...changing to 5th makes a difference even with the clutch pushed in.
MGW knew this kind of thing was a real issue which is why it comes with Dynomat and another sound blocking cover.
