I installed a new billet shifter and the instructions arent very clear on how tight the bolts are supposed to be when they go back in. How tight are they supposed to be?

I'm guessing pretty tight on the mounts... I know you don't want to strip the ones in the middle though. Sorry, that's not really much help, I just just know one of my mounts was backing quite a bit and I had to retighten it recently. It was causing me to miss 3rd gear shifts. GL!

I calibrated my manual torque wrench for this one. Following my guidelines, I suggest you tighten until your left nut feels like it's going to explode, then 1/4 turn farther.

I'm talkin about the bolt that connects to the tranny linkage and the front bolt towards the firewall.

Just hand tight - use blue loctite on both to keep them from coming loose. The front bolt towards the firewall goes into the aluminum tranny, don't overtighten and strip that or you're really screwed. I think there is a spec on it in the work instructions for the tranny. Don't quote me but maybe 30 lb/ft?

On the linkage, it's made out of cheap metal and I've managed to strip both ends on separate occasions - its pretty easy to overdo it. There are stops on each of the linkage end threads that the nuts rest on. Just tighten it by hand until they stop, and stop - don't torque it. The blue loctite, if allowed to dry properly, will hold it in place.

Ooops my bad, I was talking about the bolts holding the shifter handle to the shifter itself. I've had to re-tighten that once.
