There's no exact formula that I know of. I'm no math genius, but from what I hear a 100 MPH car 1 tenth equals 16 Ft. or about 1 car length.

100mph = ~146.7 ft per sec... so 7/10 sec, would be about 102.7 feet.

If you are comparing it to how close you physically were to the other racer, remember, these formulas are based on that both of you traveling at the same speed.

Usually a tenth is good for about a car length.
