How loud are our Stangs?
I am contemplating registering for a track day in Belgium this coming May (Zolder circuit, not a drag strip) but here's the catch: they have a loudness limit of 95dB !!!
Does anyone know how loud is a 2005 GT in either stock or modified setup at WOT? (stock should be the least noisy, I guess).
I don't want to spend 170 EURO ($ 205) for the registration, then finding out I'm not allowed on the track.
Thanks!
P.S.: I've been searching for that recently posted vid of someone here who measured the noise level with a decibel meter, but I can't find it!

Maybe it wasn't clear, the 95dB limit is the UPPER limit.
Or it was a joke and I didn't get it, being so PO'd by this stupid regulation.
...soon they'll only allow solar-powered cars to race!

95dB is pretty loud. One of my local drag strips enforces a sound level ordnance, and the only cars that approach 95dB are the trailered-in full-time race cars, with open headers. Maybe you could just buy a cheap dB meter and verify it for yourself.

I got 109 db when revving it in neutral which maxes out at about 3000 rpms..
At what distance are they measuring? I measured at 1 meter (give or take a few).. and the mic was pointed to the exhaust... If they are measuring at trackside it will be much quieter.

Thanks Mark, that was the thread I was looking for.
I just found out that they measure noise levels around the perimeter of the track facility (so far away from the cars themselves), because on one side there is a residential area jus across a main road from the track. This means I'd be safely below the noise limit in the Mustang.

our cars stock, should be 95 db 20 inches from the rear.... I am pretty sure thats how it is measured. my SLPs with everytrhing else stock were 18db higher than stock, both measured in the same place, same distance, same meter, about 3 hours from each other, same day.

95 decibels? If that's true, then the Cutlass I was going to buy most have been about 150db...
