Hot Rod Cams / 3:73 Gears

Ok, Ill be home from afghan in like 4 days!!! Thank GOD and finally. Anyways, i was wondering, do i need to call brenspeed, or american muscle, and have them email me a tune after i put my hot rod cams in, and gears? or are those parts like plug and play for the most part? I know in my tuner i can set the idle and stuff, but does it make a difference if i put a new tune it, and if i cant get to it right off, can i still drive my car?

I know the anticipation of finally getting home and driving and modding your car is killing you. I know I couldn't wait to drive my car when I got back from deployment. Anyway, you will need a tune for the hotrod cams. Either American Muscle or Brenspeed will be able to hook you up. I bought Comp NSR stage 2 cams from brenspeed but my tunes are from American Muscle, as I am a American Muscle/Bama free tunes for life customer.

If you are sure you are going to go F/I, why not get cams designed for superchargers? Sure hotrods will work, in fact a friend of mine has them on his car that has a saleen s/c but it may not optimal.

With that set-up you may want to spend the extra money and get it dyno tuned. My friend with the saleen s/c and hotrods got a dyno tune and was putting down 493 RWHP on a mustang dyno.

I can ask what PSI he is at but I believe it's 11-12. For mods he has L/T, O/RX, magnapacks and 4.10s. He still needs a stall converter.

yeah i am going to be at 10psi, with long tubes, 8 rib conversion, afco heat extractor, JD custom CAI for the saleen, Catted H, Mag exhaust, 3:73 gears, 30lb injectors, Hurst Short throw, Hot Rod Cams, and i think thats about it. I dont know what ill be at on a decently safe tune, but i was told with that set up, should be right under 500, but if your friend is running 11-12 psi, i dont know. I hope so though, cause my goal was 500, but with a safe tune, i am pushing everything i can to get it to there. So, until i build my bottem end. The guy i bought it from was running 16psi and putting down 650wrhp, so i know the Saleen can def. do it. It is just up to me to fork out the dough..and i dont wanna!!!!

He was at 493 at the wheel also he has an auto so that takes away a little hp compared to manual. Since you are getting a hurst shifter, you may also want to get a CHE-K member brace with tq limiters. This will make the car fill stiffer and will help tremendously with shifting. I have the same shifter and at the track I would sometimes miss shifts, especially in hot weather. One trip at the track out of 7 runs, I miss shifted 3 or 4 times. Since I added the CHE-K member I haven't miss shifted in over 10 runs. You can get it from brenspeed for $160
