I have slp's, and wanted the o/r h-pipe from brenspeed. I hear a lot of people saying it will be toooo loud..and ricey???? help ive got 175 bucks to spend..what should i do? opinions?

11. Mine is VERY loud, louder than any car I've ever had, even with JBA axlebacks, and they are just a tad louder than stock. With the SLP's, it's going to be VERy loud.

If you like LOUD, get it. I love the way my car sounds with my X pipe.

I wouldn't bother with the off-road midpipes if you got SLP, it'll be wayyyy too loud.

Get a catted x pipe, I would think that'd sound so much better.

I agree with the others. If you already have the SLP loudmouths, you might want to stick with a catted mid pipe.

If I was you I would take that $175 throw in another $30 and get some Steeda underdrive pullies, if you don't already have them that is.

How loud would it be with Magnaflow A/Bs?

As it is, my car is not much louder than stock..

I'd say the Magnaflows are a good choice with this h pipe. The Magnaflows I've heard weren't much louder than stock, but had a much deeper and powerfull tone to them. Still, it's going to get pretty loud at WOT. But at a stable RPM, not much louder.

I have the o/r h-pipe (from Brenspeed) and magnaflows catback. I agree it's a good combination. Only slightly louder. However, when you get on it a little it's quite a bit louder. At WOT my car gets everyone's attention. Again, driving normal, it's sounds a little louder and deeper, but nothing that will annoy anyone. I had my h-pipe welded this morning at Midas, because the c-clamp didn't seal too well where the left and right side joined. Now, there's no leak whatsoever. Midas charged me $50 to weld the joint with an arch welder. They originally quoted me $40, which I thought was a little high. Then when the got the stang on the lift they said it would be $60 dollars. I told them that was too much and would get it done elsewhere, so they brought it down to $50 and I said do it. The resulting weld was perfect.

That's a good call on the weld. Mine is showing a little black soot around the join, so I'm getting a little leak, so I might get mind done as well.

if you weld, how hard would it be to go back to the stock set-up come smog time? I know it's not for many years, but still.....

The weld won't affect it at ALL. The weld is joining the two sides together, which are already welded on the stock piece, and when installing the pipes, you connect the two sides together with the C clamp before every taking them over to the car. Joining the two side does nothing to affect the install, they would be together anyway. You don't put up one side, then the other, but the whole H pipe at one time, much easier, no extra dangling pipe.

I think the two sides come seperate in the mail because the box can be MUCH smaller that way, less than half the size of box needed to ship the whole H pipe because of the curves in the pipe.

As far as time, I bet you if someone put a gun to my head, I could change it back in 30 minutes, but working normally with a cold beer, around an hour. It's basically 8 nuts and three 02 sensors (which screw in/out like a bolt). So your talking 11 "lefty Lucy's" and then 11 "righty tighties". Figure an hour, maybe less with a lift, little more for jackstands/ramps for sliding around under the car. The stock cats are much heavier than the pipes, so it'll be a little harder to hold them up in place and get them into the rubber hangars, but no big deal because the hangars hold 'em up while you just tighten 'em down.

In other words, I think once you put the H pipe on and seen how everything works, swapping out will be even easier.

Your welcome, I'm glad I could help. Also, a little PB Blaster (available at Walmart/Autozone/Pepboys) does wonders in loosening stuck rusty nuts and bolts. I struggled with one bolt for 15 minutes, then it practically fell off after a couple of squirts. Cuts through rust like a hot knife through butter. Acts like a super concentrated WD-40.

Have fun with the install, and stand by for some mean exhaust!

thanks to all the rain here in L.A. this weekend, I've had to hold off on installing the pipe. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend. Man, the Rose Parade sure got soggy this year!
