ALright, I've read over the hundreds of posts on exhaust, Magnaflow, Borla, Bassani, etc... etc... but NOT a one I've seen has mentioned high flow cats. I've seen it mentioned that everyone thinks this is the major blocking point in the exhaust system, but I'd like to see some cold hard numbers from someone who has done it. So what is the deal people?

I think the cats cuase two problems. one is the restriction and two you have to run the fuel air mix rich to keep them from overheating. but i'm not an expert on cats.

We have dyno results for the Magnaflow X pipe with converters and catback- 19rwhp, 17rwtq-

Actually running rich will cause the converters to go bad, as converters operate between 800 and 1200 degrees, any excess fuel will then ignite inside the converter causing the converter to super heat and melt down-

The converters on the 05 are actually not as restrictive as every one believes them to be-

I think the rumor got started because the stock mufflers flow so well- it is not that the converters are very restirictive, its just that the mufflers flow so much better-

In fact the stock mufflers flow so well, I have yet to see a chambered muffler make power on these cars- in fact they all seem to loose power-

All of the straight through designed muffler seem to be having success though-

My personal advice to anyone is to either keep them stock, or go with a good straight through muffler like Ultraflow, Bassani, Borla, or of course Magnaflow-

The stock converter set up is actually less restrictive on this car then the one on the 99-04s.

Typically we saw gains of 22-24rwhp with X pipe and catback on 99-04s, on this car we are seeing less then that after testing about 20 different combinations of changing variables within the exhaust-

Great info. Have there been tests done with long tubes in conjunction with the x pipe, converters and catbacks, or are we not there yet?

I will also await the full system. Are you considering the long tube headers also?

I just heard a great souind clip for the jba system w the headers, awesome sound, it souned as thought a hotter cam was installed, the clip was with a blower, maybe that had something to do with the great raspy lopey sound.
When and if i my car ever comes in or gets built...lol, i will be definately putting a system on, meanwhile i will just wait to see what the aftermarket comes out with, in my state i really need to worry about emmissions, to me what makes senses is headers, low restictive cats, crossover pipe, cat back system w flow thru muffs
