Just talked to K&N and they need around 5 GT's for R&D. They have one right now and will be using mine next week. But they still need a few more. You get to keep the kit of course and get your old setup back, plus a dyno sheet of your stock setup and when the kit actually becomes available to the public they will mail you the dyno sheet with new K&N kit.

They want you to have at least 1000 miles on your Mustang before they will let you give it to them, just to give you a heads up. I got about 970 miles on mine now, so by the time I would get the car to them, it would be good to go.
Also, they want to keep your Mustang for a week. Incase you think you might have seperation anxiety.

According to K&N's website, they now have a filter available for the '05 Stangs:

Hey Gang,I have been talking to a K&N Rep named Dino and the new filter for the GT is now available. Summet told me not until January so I called Dino and he gave me the Name of a shop next to K&N that has the Filters. They are called Fox Performance,The filter is 37.70 with FREE shipping and no tax outside of Calif. I ordered mine a little while ago and the Guy on the Phone was really a nice guy. I hope this helps you as much as the Mustang Source has helped Me. Later Driver

I heard from somewhere that the 05 Mustang GT K&N replacement filter will hurt your performance - I'm not sure if this came from a reputable source.
Sounds like the claim is horse manure. I ordered a K&N replacement filter for my 05 GT.
Can any one prove or disprove this?
