My car has the front strut problem have not had fixed yet, but the last couple days I've noticed a simliar sound coming from the passenger side trunk area. Checked everything in the trunk it is all secure. Did not see anything obvious underneath. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem? 1100 miles, car built 3/05

i guess i have the same problem. i can hear that noise when i hit the brake.
i took it in for service but they obviously have no idea what to do with that!

they had my car for 2 days and they think the rear noise is somewhat related to the front strut problem. so the result: "we try to fix front strut problem and HOPEFULY it will take care of that rear noise. if not we'll try something else...". so now i'm waiting for front suspension parts... for over a month!

Grab your passenger side tailpipe and pull back or up and down. You might just find your banging here.

If I remember correctly I have read that there is a bad body weld in rear qtr that can cause the banging noise.. I recommend searching the forum...

The board that is on the top of the spare tire well was causing a banging noise in mine. Not one of Fords best ideas.

I had a noise and it drove me crazy. I got under the car moved the exhaust around etc. and just could not find it till the other day. When I installed my X pipe I had to realign my tailpipes and right above the tip there is a flat piece of metal hanging down and my tip was hitting it on bumps. I moved the tips down a hair and now shes quiet as new It may not be the case for you, but I didn't see it at first so you may go back and look.
Thanks Mike

Just last night my car started the same exact thing. Passenger side trunk area. I too checked around the trunk and all secure. Funny thing is it ONLY happens in reverse. I pull past my driveway, turn the wheel to the right and reverse in. When my car goes over the small bump of the apron seperating the road from my driveway it makes that noise.. makes the sound twice as if whatever is in motion is reaching the end of it's movement. I did a test and drove in/out of my driveway 3 times in a row and it only makes the sound when travelling in reverse. My front struts have only made a clunk sound twice in the past and haven't had a peep out of them in over 2000 miles. Have 3900 miles now on her. I'll check the tailpipes and the board on top of the spare tire this weekend. Bad body weld??

mine had the noise as well. then i looked in the rear view mirror and noticed a really hot girl humping the rear passenger fender.
did you guys look to see if that was a root cause??

I had a weld that holds the rear seatbelt that made a clicking type noise and it sounded like it was comming from the rear deck. It was annoying. My swaybar was also comming loose and was making a noise that sounded like it was comming from the rear because it was resonating through the whole chassis.
