Headers, worth it?
Yes. And Sean is right. The install is not fun. But I did mine myself without even a helper and I survived. You've got to move a few things around, but it was definitely worth it. I've enjoyed them for well over 3 years now and I've never regretted it.
Any write-ups on installing headers? What is all involved and what makes it a PITA?
Very true ... I own a V6 so I can only really have Long Tube envy but everyone who does them loves them and have no regrets at all! As Gary says they are manageable and its a great feeling when you do something to your own car!
Some of the manufacterer sites have write ups and I believe so does american muscle. I wouldn't recommend this to someone not use to turning wrenches. But if you can get someone to help it will save some coin.
If you don't have a tuner, with a good tune selection on it, then forget headers for now and get one! A CAI and tuner combo are good for up to 30 HP and improved throttle responce. AmericanMuscle has good prices and offer free tunes for life, great for when you get upgrades later on.
What's a good tuner to get? When I got my car it already had a K&N CAI and Flowmasters on it from the previous owner so I don't really want to buy a combo if I don't have to. Any suggestions?
