which headers

I have the Hooker LT's for like $700.00 bucks and I'm happy with them.. alittel rust but who the heck looks underneath your car??!! Plus I dont know if its me but I really havent seen or heard from everyone who bought a truck load of the ARH's a few months back reporting kick *** numbers... so I dont know. $1200.00 plus labor is alot for 10-20 rwhp.

Just curious. I know steel is a commodity and prices change constantly, but as an average steel has risen an astonishing amount in the past 5 years. I have talked to local experienced exhaust shops and welders, and it isn't cheap to get a custom set made. I know ARH are expensive, but I know I have a quality product.
My friend has been quoted anywhere from 1000 to 1500 for a set locally. What is everyone else getting quotes for on custom headers?

I may have spent over $1,400 for my set, but everyone around my car has said its a SICK sounding S197!! Thats what AHR L/Ts, Catted H, and Stingers do to a new Mustang. Plus I am totally emissons legal as well!!
Also, in one of the newest Mustang magazines (don't remember which one. Borders was closing when I opened it up), they have an install and dyno of American Racing Long Tubes. If my memory serves me right, they got 14 hp with no tune, and then 12 more with a tune, for a total of 26 hp! Not a bad mod for the money. When I pick up the issue tonight, I'll scan it tomorrow and post it up.

ARH = perfect fit, easy install, fit and finish are excelent. Very good gains too. I am running a pretty consistent 1 second and 10 - 11 mph better than a stock GT. Some of this gain comes from a very good cold air intake system and tune but I think this speaks highly of the value of long tube headers.

That's the thing that gets me. Once a template is made and is proven consistently, headers should be a bit cheaper since the labor is reduced in making them. I just can't justify spending that amount of $ on a set of headers. I would love to have a set however. I might would buy a set of LT's for $600 in stainless. You can find alot of mild steel headers for under $250 for most apps, why not do the same thing for the added cost of stainless?

Hey bud, how's it going. Yes, more mods. I get the car back from a restoration shop today. Having my seats turned into retro Mach1 style with a solid blue bar in place of the top roll in each seat (all 4). I have a pic, but I want to wait to take several pics before I post. All I can say is it looks SICK!!! Check for pics later tonight in general (I'm posting here so more people see it, before it gets moved in a few days).

I can't Raf. I already committed to a show locally run by a good cutomer of our dealership. If that show wasn't happening, I would be there in a heartbeat! You could then see the new wheels, hear the L/T's and scope out the new seat trim.

where's this other show gonna be?? Let me get some details.. maybe me and some of my boys can go. The one in butler is getting a little to crowded. Plus next month they will be judging on undercarriges!! Come on people.. its a freaking car!

Raf, the show is in my neck of the woods here in SE Pennsy. It would be a LONG drive for you to get to. The cool thing though, where the show is being held at, is at the shop of a guy who was on Pinks and won!!

I get a lot of complments with my ARH LTs, catted H, and Flowmasters.
And as far as all that talk about replacing your motor mounts, if you get a good set of well designed headers, like ARH, you won't have clearance issues. I have absolutely no issues, not even close. The price is hard to bite off, but they are some of, if not the best.
(~$1,400 includes the ARH LT headers and catted H-pipe.)
