which headers

Yes, Hooker, SLPs (I think), and a few others. However, they're all made with inferior metal, T-409 or worse. ARH and Kooks are made with T-304 stainless steel which will last the life of the car and more. However, you can go with O/R and that will bring you to $1000 or less on the Kooks, the ARHs too I believe.

mrroofer,
scramblr is right about the stainless. If you want good quality, you are going to have to pay. Trust me it is worth it. I have the ARH LTs and the fit and quality are excellent. Since you have a SC, I would recommend getting 1-3/4" LT's.

I have OBX headers I bought off of ebay. I was looking at the JBA's but a friend of mine had the OBX installed and was happy with them so I gave them a shot. I would check them out. I love mine. I can feel a huge differece. I got them for $550 delivered with your choice of downtubes - cats or w/o cats (comes with both options). Another great option is the lifetime warranty... just something to think about.
Almost forgot to add another suggestion: I would get better motor mounts and install them at the same time as the headers. If you don't you may have some clearance issues when the engine shakes. Doing the install at the same time will save you tons of time and a huge headache.

I believe you pay for what you get, but every now and then you can find an exception to the rule.
I want to mention again to save you an enormous headache later - DON'T FORGET TO REPLACE YOUR MOTOR MOUNTS! These would work just fine:

WAYYY to much $$ for so little HP. And sound can be had with better cats/h-pipe so don't argue that. I can see spending less than $500 on a set of LT stainless headers, but $1000? Someone is making alot of profit. I had a custom set made from 304 16 guage for my 351c/fox body for $650 so I know it's all about BS.
