Can someone please explain the sound and performance differences between the Long tube and shortys!

I am not sure there is much difference in sound, but the long tubes are the way to go for hp, if you live in a state where you can get away with them. If I wasn't in California, my car would have the long tubes for sure.

The shorties are California emissions legal.

The long tubes flow more air of course so there is a sound difference. I wish I could post a clip of my exhaust. I tell you what I will do. I am going to dyno it again Wed. I will take my camera and tape a couple of runs and then someone will have to post the clip for me.

Wow, 3rwhp and -1rwtq...

I knew that on old 2v stangs shorties were a waste, but I hoped that on the new 3v they would perform better. No doubt that with a better flowing mid pipe the gains will be higher, but the shorties themselves seem like a dissapointment.

These were developed for the '05 3-V.

On a previous thread you posted you installed a SCT tune and the headers. My car already had the SCT tune so I am only looking at what the headers did for me.

The SCT tune was done after the header install. They installed the headers and exhaust first on a bone dry stock car. They ran the dyno with just those installs (NO TUNE or any other mods). I picked up 8hp and 10.8tq, and .6sec on a 1/4. Those results were on my automatic on a mustangdyno which show limited results anyways.

After the tune I picked up a few more HP. It is all on www.ccstuning.com

Of course they were...

I was just saying that shorties on previous generation 4.6L Mustangs were a waste, and they seem to be the same for the '05...

I was hoping for about those gains but a combination of things might have affected mine differently. Wish I could have the long tubes and 93 gas.

For the price I'm not complaining. Part of being a test car.
