yeah there running straight pipes. very similar to the LM's setup. The only difference is there is custom, and the exhaust tips are larger (4" ?). And for some reason they do sound a little different, not sure why though. Both sound awesome IMO.

I'm hoping to do the JBA shorties and Bassani xpipe (with cats) myself after the xmas holidays. If you guys have a chance, a write up of your install would be much appreciated...

we followed the installation instructions to a T...except we disconnected both sets of motor mounts and lifted the engine with the floor jack. made it easier to get to each manifold.

if you are planning on running rear o2 sensors on the bassani high flow cats (or off road pipes like me)...you need to pull the little plastic clip that helps hold the o2 sensor wire to the car, and flip it over so it pops in from the bottom. see pic.

the blue clip the front, was attached anf flipped up...which made it impossible for the 02 sensor to reach. I know this sounds confusing...but you will see what I mean when you get to it.

I do notice a loss of power with no cats, no mufflers, and an off road xpipe. I am hoping a tune will fix this.

look through the vids under the rrobello folder on surfnsocal.com/vid I think I have one at night I took....if not let me know I will get you one.

as for a write up pretty much go with the instructions as Surfn said, if you need more then that ask and I will gladly write one up.

Some pointers that surfn didnt mention.

use as many stock bolts on the headers as you can. the back 2 on them u will need to use the JBA ones, so just start with them, dont waste time with the stock ones they wont give enough clearance.

thread all of the bolts in to finger tight, if they get tight stop and back them out, dont force them or you will strip the threads in the manifold and you will be SOL.

when unbolting the steering column from the crossbar, you only need to do the driver side and then push it foward to remove the steering column, dont waste time on the bottom bolt they are welded in

oh and make sure you disconnect the battery first, unlike Richard who said he did and then his friend quickly found out he didnt.

I will post more as I think of them. But it was pretty straight foward.

Heh, I made the same mistake and already posted to watch out for that starter 12v contact, :P No harm really.

Anyways, you now have a good idea what I've been driving around with for the past few weeks but I do believe its just a bit more quite. Thats not bad though, I and "knowledgable others" can still hear that "header" and opened up sound even though it doesnt have the same amount of "tinging" associated with Long Tubes when you let off the throttle after a high rev. Run on sentences.....bah!

Good Shizzy!

Don't feel bad, I had a '66 4-4-2 with a 50000 volt Mallory coil. Was trying to find a voltage leak with the garage door down, lights off and the hood down to keep any light out.
Don't know what I grabbed, bit I put tri-power modules into the hood with my head! I thought my old man was going to hurt himself laughing!
