Has anybody moved their mufflers to the over the axel pipe right after their H/X pipe? Or maybe even has a custom exhaust with the mufflers in that location? I think it would be interesting to hear a setup like that.

oh that looks promising! i wonder if that might be the cure to the trumpet sound most of us with the off-road setup are experiencing. having less distance between the mufflers and the h/x pipe and a longer tip will probably do the trick.

i wonder how they fit mufflers under there?? not much room!

I don't like the pypes setup because those mufflers are right next to the gas tank. the gas tank isn't shielded, and I dont like fires. I bought myself some Vibrant 12" SS resonators for $100 shipped and in the next month will be installing them right after the H pipe. They won't be anywhere near the gas tank. I hope this will smoothen out my SLPs

Yeah I think the cure for all our exhaust whoas is to move the mufflers forward, but your right, not much room under there!

I am sure that Pypes mid muffler system would sound a lot different just due to the fact that there is some tail pipe after the mufflers. It would be interesting to see how well that system works, first in terms of flow and second in terms of the sound.

I saw pics of this setup and the muflers are right after the H/X pipe. Where do you think they are and where is the gas tank?

the gas tank is right before the rear wheel and is not sheilded well, if you look there should be some peices of plastic right before the tank, they look useless but they are there like a mini spoiler, they are meant to push wind over the gas tank and protect it from rocks and things like that

I wonder if it would be possible to shield the gas tank.... but I think I would put them as far away from the tank as possible. I think that if you chopped the FRPPs up and put the mufflers near the H it would sound SICK....

Dustin, I think you're right..... I'm trying the same thing very soon. There are people here that swear by the resonators helping out the offroad pipes; let's find out.

I thought about the resonators....but I dont want them to take away any of the loudness.

I think its either in the new 3 valve head design, or due the to fact that the mufflers are so far back that we are getting trumpeting and other issues....otherwise if we could get it to sound like the 04 on back Mustangs....that would be sweeeeeet!

I wonder how much it would cost to have a shop make just pipes to go from just behind the H (after Pypes M-80) out the back? The M-80s are only like $50.

well I went to the exhaust shop today and pretty much debated on what to do. The FRPPS are to big to fit on the over the axle pipe without causing severe clearance problems. They did offer to instal resonators but I don't want to reduce the volume, the resonators they showed me were also a straight through design so I dont' know how that will take away the trumpeting. lol IDK I'm just thinking now. I would really like to see how a borla style system would sound placed in the middle location. This just seem to me that thats where the muffler should be. Even the exhaust guy said thats where they should be but that he wouldn t wanna cut up the FRPPs which neither do i lol I might be looking for a muffler with similiar design to the FRPPs that WILL fit in the middle. I never realized how big the FRPP/Borlas really are!

Caleb, the Pypes M80s are only 4" diameter, 13-14" long and $49.00 each. What is the diameter of the FRPP/Borla's?
