SCT2 93 octane tune, JLT Longtube headers, JLT Intake.

Max Power = 276.92
Max Torque = 296.83

I'm a little disapointed with the results. I was hoping for 290hp. My guess is that the headers aren't giving me much gains, the bulk is from the tune and intake. Also keep in mind I have an auto, probably 10-12 more hp lost.
After today's tune my tires really rip from 1st to 2nd and even a little chirp from 2nd to 3rd.

Next step for me is a set of machined heads. Anyone here installed any yet?

that does seem a little low for the mods you have. are you running the canned tune or did you tune it on the dyno. how many pulls and what was the weather?

Does sound a bit off but also look at the outside temperture, 98 degree's!! Did you have a fan on the car? You could have given it a bit more fuel down low too but I still don't think that would have given you much, maybe 2-5hp.

Are you running tunes you got with the JLT kit? If so send me your calibration code and I'd be happy to send you some different ones.

Later Doug.

Satin, it was custom tuned between 3 runs. Weather was 97-98 with 34-40% humidity between the runs.

Doug, we had a fan on it, and 2 tubes blowing cold air also. Where do I find my calibration code?

Is the first run a Baseline or with the canned tune? I dont see any differences between the three runs.

weather accounts for some loss. have there been any other 05s run on that dyno, what are thier #s. each dyno does differ slightly. The question is are you happy with your car. That is all that matters. (well that and crushing imports and ls1s)

There was no baseline run. The car was flashed to stock, then tuned using a laptop and SCT2 datalogging feature. First tune was pretty good. 2nd tune we got 2 more HP and 3 more TRQ. 3rd adjustment we lost a little.
I am very happy with the car;
1. It feels quicker and more powerful
2. Love being able to spin the wheels easily with my auto
3. I am also getting better gas mileage

This will keep me happy, for the time being!!

Huh. I made 272 / 293 with just a Magnaflow axle-back.

Max RWHP = 296
Max Torque = 299

Auto with SCT Tune, JLT CAI,Magnaflow axelbacks.

My car was baselined at:

Max RWHP = 259
Max Torque = 259

Considering the axel back doesn't do too much... seems like you have a freak of nature on your hands. What type of Dyno was it? Fuel grade?

That's some quality torque.

Those numbers are way too low. Either:

1. You tuner does not know how to tune

OR

2. Did they run the car in "D" or did they put it in 3rd ? If they put the car in 3rd, that would make total sense. The 05 Mustang is 1:1 in 4th gear.

DynoJet, 87 octane

zwooky - your run was on a HOT day with HIGH humidity !!

Maybe that played a part..??

zwooky, where in Tampa did you get it done? Ramsey's, Coastal, Fordspeed?? I'm curious as to how much the session was. And yeah, those numbers sound pretty low.

I have noticed our cars seem to be very sensitive to heat. I think that played a big part. There was an article in 5.0 Mustang (this months) saying you could loose as much as 10-15HP when it is really hot because the computer makes a bunch of adjustments for the heat.

Anyone have that article handy? I don't remember all the details

Not according to Magnaflow, I have noticed an improvement as well with the axle back setup !

I bet the run was in 3rd gear. I have seen several auto pulls that looked just like that one.

The only way to correctly tune the auto is to add a custome trans profile that locks up 4th gear ( 1:1 as stated earlier ) and is otherwise the same as the desired tune. Once the tune is complete, the trans profile is set back to normal ( or to the desired modifications )

This will give you a dyno profile very similar to the stick shift....

P.S. Very few tuners are familiar with this new auto trans and most do not handle it correctly....

Pull was done in 4th with converter locked. It was pretty difficult to keep the car from stalling when it was dropped into 4th from neutral.

I believe the heat, humidity, auto trans, and SAE chart are the reasons for my lower numbers. I'm guessing they are about 20 hp lower than they should be.

Despite my initial disappoinment with the numbers, I am very satisfied with the car and tune. Car is quicker and more powerful than it was before when it had the JLT/DTP 93 octane tune in it.

Their are many factors that determine hp and trq numbers on a dyno, and I've come to realize that they are just numbers, I could possibly go to a different dyno in Feb. and pull 300rwhp, who knows.
