Got my JLT and SCT X2

Jay forgot the rubber elbow piece from the TB to the intake :-( I emailed him so hopefully I can get one sent soon.
I got the intake painted sonic blue to match the car so everything looks awesome. Just wished I had that one piece to install the intake & load up the tune now.
Few questions though...
1) I got the 87 & 91 oct tunes, where I live, they sell 87,89,93. If I load up the 91 tune, can I use 93 since we don't get 91?
2) The hose issue some members are having, I'd figured I should go ahead and get a better piece. What kind of 3/8" hose should I get to solve the pulley in the way problem?

You can use higher octane gas than the tune calls far. In fact, you're far less likely to get detonation (ping) if you use a slightly higher octane rating. The only thing you don't want to do is use low octane gas with a high octane tune (obviously). Good luck with your new toys!

Hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions.....Is pinging a common problem when someone gets a tune? If pinging is heard at a lower octane, but not with the higher, can you be pretty sure that it's not an issue anymore? Probably silly questions, but just trying to learn about this stuff.

In other words, load the 93 tune, use 91, and have a blast. And you can still fill up with 93 whenever you're on a trip. I found a gas station once that had 93.5, so I filled up with that on the way there, and on the way back.

A couple of months back, I also purchased the JLT and the Xcal-2 with the 87 and 93 octane tunes by DTP. So, off to the tuner I go for before and after dynos and to tweak the tunes if necessary. George, my tuner, mistakenly made a pull on 87 octane fuel with the 93 octane tune loaded. We were datalogging and no pinging was detected. When we ran 93 fuel with the 93 tune, the HP increase was a whopping 1. I left the 93 tune loaded and, of course, run 93 fuel. We made these pulls on a very hot and humid July day, so maybe when the cool weather arrives I'll see more benefit from this tune.

Thank Ford for such a sensative knock sensor, the reason the power was so much better on the 93 fuel was it wasn't retarding as much as 8-10 degree's of timing and it was making more power. Timing is everything for power but you cant just throw it at an engine and expect good things, you have to know where to put it and on these new 3-valves there's more then one table.
Thanks, Doug.
